The four-litre GravityWorks Filter from Platypus is an ideal solution to providing clean drinking water for groups or basecamps. By using the natural force of gravity, Platypus have done away with moving parts and allowed you to go about setting up camp as the water is filtered hands-free.
The kit comes complete with two water reservoirs, one clearly labelled for dirty water and the other for clean, and a filter that attaches between the two. With the full dirty reservoir hung higher than the empty clean one, gravity does the work for you as the water passes through the filter and into the clean reservoir.
Cleaning the filter is easy, simply raising the clean bladder higher than the dirty one forces water back through the filter clearing the pores in the hollow fibre filter and restoring flow to your system.
This kit comes complete with a shut-off clamp, so you can detach the clean bladder mod-filtration, and all of this packs neatly away in the included storage sack.

Hello, do you stock replacement filters, and if so, how much are they? Thanks.
We don't have them readily in stock, Alan, but we could likely get one for you, it will depend on whether our supplier has stock and when our next order with them comes around. It looks like the price is around $100 - $150.
Can the clean bladder be used in a hydration pack? Or is there a hydration bladder that it can connect directly to? Don’t see the need to carry an extra clean pouch just to decant it into my hydration bladder anyway. Cheers
G'day Jack,
The screw cap sizes on Platypus gear are the same across their range, so there's no reason why you couldn't attach a bladder hose to the clean reservoir.
Great idea!
Have just come away from a trip using this product and some way to regulate getting the water out of the clean bag would be really useful. Is there a tap or valve you can screw on to replace the cap?
G'day David,
As far as we know there are no other accessories available for their Gravity Works filter kits, however, the cap size is the same across their range of bladders and bottles, so you could grab one of their bottles with a push/pull closure cap on it and replace it with one of those if you wanted to reduce the flow a little when pouring into another container.
What would be the filter life of this product versus other products? Is it based on time, litres processed etc?
G'day Anton,
The Filter Life on the GravityWorks 4.0L is 1500L, generally, filters will have a number of Litres for their lifetime. For example, the MSR filters range from 1000 - 10, 000L.
Hi, is the filtration system compatible with the CamelBak Crux 3L bladder or is there a compatible adapter available?
G'day Adriana,
Unfortunately, there isn't a specific way to attach this directly to a Camelbak crux, we have tried this out before and the tube sizes are different.
Hi Guys, can you tell me if the snaplock connectors on the GravityWorks will connect with the Camelbak connectors?? Basically I'd like to use the dirty bag from the GravityWorks to filter directly into the Camelbak Military bladder. Or, do you sell the Camelbak connectors separately so I could change the connections on the GravityWorks to make it work?? Cheers Mark
G'day Mark,
We've just tested this in store and found that we couldn't fit the GravityWorks onto the Camelbak Military Bladder. The tube is a different size it also won't fit the Camelbak adaptor, so I'm sorry to say that you wouldn't be able to connect the dirty bag directly to your Camelbak bladder.
