The Go Bottle 2 Stage Filtration from Lifestraw is going to be your new best friend for your off-the-beaten path adventures.
This lightweight and durable BPA free contraption will remove bacteria and protozoan parasites, and bad odour and taste for drinkable water wherever you’re doing. Pretty nifty huh? At the first stage the water goes through the hollow fiber membrane filter which removes 99.9999 % of bacteria 99.9 % of protozoan parasites. It then goes through an activated carbon capsule which helps reduce odour and taste.
For easy transport, just clip it your pack to have with you at all times on the go. Ideal for the hiker, camper, or traveller - the Go Bottle 2 Stage Filtration Bottle allows you to make water safe to drink, almost anywhere.
You mention leaking which is concerning. Will they still be covered by warranty if I deem it to be leaking unacceptably? Second, can you use the tablets in these, for virus killing?
G'day Joel,
Theres no reason why you couldn't also use tablets in your unfiltered water.
In terms of the leaking, it's not a warranty issue at all. If you store your bottle upright and correctly, you won't experience leaks.
As the filter is one way, and works on a suction/draw-type flow, you will always have a small amount of water above the filter and top of the bottle near the mouthpiece. This is just unavoidable unless you remove your filter and drain it out.
But as above, if you store your bottle correctly, you wont have issues.
Thank you
G'day Tiffany,
Great question! I'm unable to get a clear answer from Lifestraw, however according to various Australian websites fluoride is very difficult to remove and the activated carbon filter in this bottle won't remove the fluoride. The carbon filter will need to be changed every 3 months according to Lifestraw.
I'm seeing in specs that the carbon filter has a much shorter life than the other filter in this bottle. Can the bottle be used without the carbon filter? Or could I just add a carbon filter to the more affordable Go bottle? Thanks
G'day Laura,
The Go 2 Stage Water Filter Bottle has the same hollow fibre filter as the Go Water Filter, but it also includes the activated carbon filter that reduces chemicals, odour and taste. The two filters need to be used together, so my suggestion would be if you don't need to remove the chemicals, odour and taste then just go for the regular bottle.
Can I swap out the filter for a standard water bottle straw
G'day Amanda,
Yes definately can use the LifeStraw Go 2 Stage Bottle without a filter cartridge, however not with a straw. The gap where the filter screws in is quite wide, and not compatible with any style of drink bottle replacement straws I've seen. Hope that helps!
Is there a filter we can buy to replace the one in the bottle or do you have to buy a whole new bottle?
G'day Georgia,
We do sell the replacement filters for the LifeStare Go Bittke 2 Stage Water Filter Bottles. You can find there here!
Is it possible to decant filtered water from the bottle for cooking?
G'day Peter,
Long story short, not really, no. The LifeStraw Go 2 Stage Water Filter Bottle is designed to have the water sucked through the straw. Unless you were planning on sucking and spitting the water, the only option would be to let gravity do its thing and that would result in the water dripping at absolute best, so it would only drive you nuts.
Hi there I purchased this bottle (x 3 of them) and I can't use it due to the bad plastic taste. I have repeatedly rinsed the cartridge and the taste is still there. Can you offer any suggestions? Many thanks
G'day Cilla,
We've recently written a blog about cleaning bottles like the LifeStraw Go 2 Stage Water Filter Bottle. Hopefully, we'll find a solution in the blog. You can find it here.
Hi, can you please tell me the difference between the Go and the Go 2?
G'day Nerida,
Excellent question, I actually didn't know myself so I've just gone down to suss them both out. The LifeStraw Go 2 Stage Water Filter Bottle has a two-stage filtration system, whereas the standard Go Water Filter Bottle just has the one. Both bottles have a hollow fibre membrane which removes 99.9999% of bacteria and 99.9% of protozoa. The Go 2 Stage Water Filter Bottle also has a second stage, which is an activated carbon capsule. This capsule reduces chlorine, reduces bad odour & taste, and reduces organic chemical matter such as herbicides or pesticides.
We will be staying there before we fly out Friday
