Heavy-duty, rustproof, and indestructible – the Glacier Stainless Steel Medium Cookset from GSI Outdoors is the solid choice for whipping up gourmet meals at the campsite.
Each part of this set is made of durable stainless steel, making it ideal for cooking over coals or a campfire. With 2 pots, 2 frypans/lids, 2 cutting boards, and a gripper included – you won’t want for anything when cooking a delicious meal away from your home kitchen.
This set is also lightweight, and nests together so it won’t take up heaps of space and is easy to carry. The rolled rims increase the durability and stiffness, while the included gripper attaches securely to the exterior brackets of the cookware to help stop scratches.
If reliability and robustness are important to you when it comes to cookware, then the Glacier Stainless Medium Cookset from GSI Outdoors fits the bill perfectly.
Could these be used in a caravan oven or under a gas grill?
G'day Paula,
The Stainless Cookset is pretty versatile so we'd be fairly confident they should be ok in a caravan oven or under the grill. They have been designed to use on a gas stove, so as long as the heat isn't up too high, then there should be too many problems.
Hey mate, people mention discolouring on open fire. I don’t care if it discolours but is it recommended and functional for continual and direct use on open fire and even coals?
G'day Billy,
The Glacier Cooksets are designed for use on hike style gas stoves, being stainless steel they should be ok for use on fire occasionally, however, they're not explicitly designed for use in an open fire, so it's not something we're overly keen to recommend.
Hi, just wondering if you can purchase a spare pot gripper? Would be handy to have another one if using 2 pots at the same time or in case of a loss. Thanks.
G'day Emily,
GSI make a Micro Pot Gripper, which would be handy as a second gripper for your saucepan set. You can find the link HERE.
Hi can these be used with an induction cooktop?
G'day Hayden,
I've just double checked and the GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Cookset Medium won't work on an induction cooktop.
Just purchased a new Caravan & had to purchase a Weber Q - will these saucepans & frypans fit under the Weber Q lid?
G'day Mark,
We don't sell any Weber products, so there was no way for me to physically check for you. I'm 90% sure that you'll have no worries with the GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Cookset Medium with your Weber Q but I can't say it for sure beyond a doubt.
Does the Fry pans have a heat distribution technology like an MSR fry pan. With Stainless steel the problem is hot spots and therefore causes uneven cooking.
G'day Bob,
In order to keep the set as light and durable as possible, the GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Cooksets don't have heat distribution technology built into them. They do have the same thickness of base as the walls of their pots to allow heat to rise quickly through the pot though.
Just wondering what the cutting boards are in this set?
G'day Jono,
The GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Cookset Medium comes with 2 x 6-inch cutting boards.
In the details the first paragraph states: With 2 pots, 2 frypans, lids, 2 cutting boards, and a gripper included. However the last paragraph states: Includes 2 pots, 2 dual use frypans, 2 cutting boards, diamond gripper and mesh bag This images do not show any lids.
G'day Simon,
Good pick up! I've just run down to look at a set on the shop floor and can confirm that the GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Steel Cookset has two frypans which also double up as lids, they have a dual use. I'll get our web guys to reflect that up on our website too!
Would like something to use on our Coleman fyreknight, over the fire and for damper/roasts etc. One kit is better than three.
G'day Dave,
You can use the GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Cookset Medium over the fire for damper and roasts, it will heat up much faster than a cast iron camp oven though so don't accidentally burn your damper! You might also need to be careful if you're transferring the set between stove and fire as ash and residual charcoal will make the pots blacken so be sure to clean it well after you use it over the fire.
