Is it possible to have the table mounted onto the left side of the chair?1 answer
My farther has had a stroke and is now paralized down the right side of his body. He would not be able to use this chair by himself but if the table were on the other side he could!
Malcolm - North Booval, Ipswich(5 years ago)
G'day Malcolm,
I've had a look at the mounting brackets for the side table on the gecko Directors Chair and as long as you have a good drill I can't see any reason why you couldn't remove the brackets and remount them on the other side. They are attached with small bolts, so it should be easy enough.

Gecko chair with table. 1 answer
Can you confirm the weight? I have recently picked one up and it did not seem to be the 5.5kgs quoted in the specs.
Bruce - Park Grove Tasmania(6 years ago)
G'day Bruce,
I've just weighed the Oztent Gecko Directors Chair w/table and it weighs in at 5.52kg. So the specification is correct.

Frame material1 answer
The oztent site states steel construction for added strength but also states heavy duty aluminum frame?
Tim - 3138(7 years ago)
G'day Tim,
The frame of the Oztent Gecko Directors Chair is made from steel and the feet are made from aluminium.

Gecko chair1 answer
Is there any discernable differences between this chair and the regular Gecko chair-other than the table. I'm thinking of getting the regular chair instead and adding the table as an extra, as it is made of fibreglass and not plastic. the chairs look a bit diffrent in the photos though.
Jo - Bright(8 years ago)
G'day Jo,
There is really no difference between the two Gecko chairs other than the side table. I can see how they look a bit different, I think that must just be the angle and the shading of the pictures.Â

Table Strength1 answer
Hi Ben, Is the table strong enough to slice a steak on your plate on it without it wobbling all over the place and bending the metal support? Would it support the weight of a 15" laptop safely without accident? Thank you
karen - Kinleymore(8 years ago)
G'day Karen,
The side table on the Gecko Director's Chair from Oztent doesn't have a weight rating, but it's designed to only hold a drink, a book or other small and light items - so just bear that in mind.Â
You should be fine with a 15" laptop as they around a couple of kilos - but bear in mind it is hard to give you a black and white answer without trying it ourselves.
As for the steak - it will probably wobble a bit (especially if it's well done)Â but the support won't bend down massively as it's attached quite well.Â

Can the table be mounted on the left hand side, as I am left handed?1 answer
Ross - CASINO, NSW(8 years ago)
Hi Ross,
It is possible, but it would involve a little handy man work. You would have to drill two holes on the other front leg so you could then unscrew the clamps that hold the table in place from the right hand side and to re-attach it to the left hand side.
There are currently no pre-existing holes on the side you'd like the table to be on. So make sure you have the handy man skills necessary before deciding to go ahead.

Dimensions again!1 answer
We are concerned about the packed height of the chair. This is critical for stacking two under the bed inside a camper. The manufacturers website says it is 11cm, you say it is 20 cm... 20cm seems ridiculous! We would have purchased two from you by now but need some clarity as to exact thickness when packed in bag.
Cheers
Phil - MAYLANDS, WA(9 years ago)
Hi Phil, the 11 cm dimension you see on the Oztent site is not a realistic 'in use' figure. The widest point when packed for both the Gecko Chair with and without the table is at the top of the seat back, which is about 20 cm. Wherever possible we try and give realistic 'in field' dimensions to the products rather than dimensions straight from the factory. If stacked on top of each other in alternate directions, the width of each would overlap a little giving you a height of around 25-30 cm for two. I hope this makes sense.

Your measurements of the chair to Anne in Q & A are different to those shown in the Details & Specs; which is correct please?1 answer
Barry - MERIMBULA, NSW(9 years ago)
I'll try for the third time to get this right Barry! I have all the measurements right, just put them in all the wrong spots, mustn't have had my coffee that morning! The correct dimensions are those listed in the product specifications. Apologies to Anne too if she is still tuned in to this thread.
Ben - Snowys(9 years ago)
Can the table be moved to a position outside the armrest and be used as a side table?1 answer
Barry - MERIMBULA, NSW(9 years ago)
Certainly can! The table swivels nearly 360 degrees offering a dining or side table at adjustable heights. The table top can also be set at several angles making it a very versatile accessory.

what are the dimensions of the chair?1 answer
I want to know if it is a higher back than a standard chair, that's why it is important to put the dimensions on web site, thank you
Anne - , (10 years ago)
Hi Anne, thanks for pointing out this missed specification. I have updated the product details, the answer to your question being: 92cm in height, 52 cm wide and 20cm deep. These are the outer dimensions for the chair.
