Operation1 answer
Could you explain the operation of the different light modes and the dimmer function? Does the one switch cycle through all the modes? On the Primus website it seems to indicate 7 light settings.
Sam - Canberra(6 years ago)
G'day Sam,
I wasn't sure so I've opened one of these up and chucked some batteries in to give it a test run. The lantern has 4 light settings which can be cycled through by clicking the button on the front. You get Natural, Warm and Cool light as well as a candle mode. All of these can be dimmed by holding the same button once you're in the mode you prefer. Primus claim the 7 settings are Natual High, Natual Low, Warm High, Warm Low, Cool High and Cool Low as well as the candle mode. So in a roundabout way, they're right but it is very confusing to word it that way!

Handle?1 answer
Does it have a handle so you can carry it around ?
Michael - Point Cook(6 years ago)
G'day Michael,
Yep, those black things you can see in the photos that are either side of the light is actually a rubber handle that flips up for hanging or carrying around. Cheers :)

Batteries included?1 answer
Hi, does this one come with the batteries? Thanks!
Karl - Bridgewater(7 years ago)
G'day Karl,
I've just double checked the packaging on the Primus Frontier Camping Lantern 500's that we've got on the shop floor and they don't come with the 3 x D cell batteries required, no.

250 lumen output on High?1 answer
Description of the Frontier Lantern 500 states it has 500 lumens output. But the specs show High setting has only 250 lumens output running for 17 hours.
Comparing the description of the Frontier Lantern 250 which states it has 250 lumens output with the High setting giving 240 lumens runing for 10 hours, are the specs for the Frontier Lantern 500 correct?
Michael - West Albury(8 years ago)
G'day Michael,
Sorry about the mishap there with the specs Michael, the maximum lumens of the Frontier Camping Lantern 500 is indeed 500 on high.
I've fixed those dimensions up now so they should read correctly now, and thank you for keeping us on our toes!

Primus or Coleman?1 answer
I am thinking we might go the Coleman easy hang LED rechargeable lamp it's fractionally more money but recharges. Is there any features this has over the Coleman?
Katie - Marmion (8 years ago)
Hello Katie, thank you for your enquiry. The Frontier Camping Lantern has a much longer run time on high or low, however the output is significantly lower than the Easy Hang Lantern. The Coleman has a water resistant rating which we think is a great feature for outdoors. If you prefer to have a rechargeable lantern then the Coleman is a great all round option.
