Not too big, and not too small, the MSR Freelite 1 is just right. Designed with solo hikers and backpackers in mind, this design is whisper light and packs down small, so you can slot it into your pack with ease.
Despite its size, MSR have added plenty of headroom so you can sit up and enjoy spending time in your sheltered space without feeling cramped. The Freelite provides you with ample time to explore thanks to its connected hub and pole frame which means minimal fuss during set up. The overhead canopy is made of mesh which provides plenty of airflow, while controlling moisture and protecting from any uninvited creepy-crawlies.
If you’re the kind of adventurer that likes to spend the least amount time as possible pottering around camp, and more time taking in nature then this is the right tent for you.
Unified freestanding frame
Large door for easy access
Micromesh canopy for insect protection and moisture control
Is there a zip on the vestibule and are the poles better than the reflex?1 answer
After reading the reviews for the reflex I have concerns regarding the durability of the poles, and also if the vestibule is easily secured with a zip

G'day Beck,
It's hard to say if the Freelite alloy poles are actually stronger than the Reflex carbon poles, but carbon does have a habit of failing catastrophically when it breaks, whereas alloy will tend to bend before it breaks. So I think it's probably safe to say the alloy is less likely to fail completely on you. I've just been to double check the vestibule on a Freelite for you and it definitely has a zipper so it can be securely closed.
