If you’d like some extra sheltered space to relax in under your Foxwing awning, then the Foxwing Tagalong Tent is what your set up is missing.
This tent is constructed from durable 300D ripstop polyester which has a UPF50+ rating and is CPAI-84 fire resistant so that it will last out in the elements. The four-season heat-sealed PVC floor protects you from the ground up, the solid aluminium frame provides stability and the multi-connect system allows you to connect it to an awning that has a compatible zip, sail track or Velcro.
The interior has a gusseted rear window for ventilation which can be operated from inside the tent, a zippered power inlet for your appliances, and LED light mounting points. The Foxwing Tagalong Tent will take your already awesome set-up to the next level.
I have a the latest Rhino Batwing and wish to connect the Foxwing 2.5 Tagalong
G'day David,
Unfortunately, we have no way to check this, however, the Batwing Awnings were previously made by Oztent, so I would dare say Rhino has kept the zipper configuration the same. It may be worth checking with Rhino Rack on this one.
The Foxwing 2.5 Tagalong Tent is same width as the RV5 tent (2600mm) and compatibility was confirmed in another question. Does it work also with RV4 (2400mm width), though presumably with 200mm sticking out to one side or the other? Can that be filled vertically with an awning connector (https://www.snowys.com.au/rv-awning-connectors), or is that only really an issue for more extreme weather? Like the RV5 questioner - the extra floor space of this over the shallow RV4 tagalong tent is appealing, and the simplicity/lower weight more appealing than another RV4 on the roof. Thanks
G'day Matt,
Yes, you can attach the Foxwing 2.5 Tagalong Tent to the RV4, however as you've indicated it is a little wider, so you will end up with a 20cm overhang at one end. The awning connector won't work with this setup, as the awning connector is designed to connect the front zippers of two RV tent awnings which will be at opposite ends to each other, the Foxwing Tagalong Zipper lines up at the same end as the RV Tent. In terms of weather, you'll just have a very small section of the Tagalong that sticks out the side, but you can still pretty much enclose the front awning of your RV tent, so there will only be a small gap.
We are looking for a small extra room for our son who has outgrown his bunk in our van, would this also attach to the end of our van awning or the frame of a standard 3x6 gazebo?
G'day Claire,
The Foxwing 2.5 Tagalong Tent can be attached to a caravan awning if your awning has a sail track attachment channel, most will have this option, as that is how privacy walls generally attach. They won't attach to a gazebo, but they are free standing, so you could set them up quite close to one another, and have the edge of the tent under the canopy a little.
Hi there, will the fox wing tag along fit to the Sunseeker II 2.5m awning? Thanks.
G'day Brett,
The Foxwing 2.5 Tagalong Tent can be attached to an awning via the sail track edge or a compatible zipper, so as far as we know you should be able to attach this to a Sunseeker II 2.5m awning without any worries, the only thing to note, is that the Tent will be about 10cm wider than your awning.
It says that this is compatible with the RV5 tent but I can't figure out if the width is the same. I am considering the foxwing over the rv tagalong as it appears to be bigger but I cant figure out if it will work with an RV5 and side awning set up.
G'day Dean,
Yes the Foxwing 2.5 Tagalong is compatible with the RV5 tent, they're the same width and attach directly to the front of the awning, so you can use it with a side awning too.
I am presuming this would be classified as waterproof material at 300D polyester. Is that correct? Also does it have an optional fly like the RVs? Also Ben you are the BEST at explanatory videos. Love your work. Keep it up.
G'day Chris,
Yes the material has a 1500mm waterhead rating, which is fairly standard for a tent of this style. There isn't an optional fly available at this stage, however Oztent have indicated there may be something in the pipeline in the future. They do have lots of great ventilation options though, so you'll likely find that it should be ok in most conditions.
We're a big fan of Ben too, I'll pass on your feedback, he'll be chuffed!
Will two tagalong tents zip together side by side while both attached to the foxwing 270 awning?
G'day Leeroy,
I've had a chat with Oztent and you are indeed, able to attach up to four tagalongs onto each wing of the Awning.
As above
G'day Justin,
We don't have a way to double-check this as we don't have display models of either of these, however, based on the zipper configuration, unfortunately, I don't think it will work.
Actually i need to now if this tent is self standing. What if i need to move the car without pack the tent?
G'day Davide,
Yes, you can disconnect the Foxwing 2.5 Tagalong Tent from your Foxwing awning so you can leave it set up while you go out for a drive.
Will this fit the foxwing 180 degree awning
G'day Daniel,
The Foxwing 2.5 Tagalong tent is only designed to fit the Foxwing 270 Awning, so, unfortunately, no, it won't fit the 180 awning due to the zipper confirguration.
Oztent said it will work on the foxwing 180 but only the first two panels. I contacted the company direct to confirm.
What's the difference between the rv5 tagalong tent and the foxwing 2.5 tagalong? They both fit to the foxwing, same size and configuration but $100 difference...
G'day Joel,
The main difference between the Rv5 Tagalong Tent and Foxwing 2.5 Tagalong Tent is the material. The Rv5 Tagalong is made from 80z Ripstop Polycotton Canvas and the Foxwing Tagalong is made from ModCan 300D Ripstop CPAI-84 Fire Resistant Polyester. The Foxwing Tagalong is also slightly longer in packed dimensions and slightly heavier.
Hiya..I've the above awning with velco edges all the way round my canvas. My drop however is around 195cms from ground to velcro. With the extra 5cm height will this preclude me from attaching it to a competing awning? Would all Foxwings at fitting have to be set at 190cms if u wanted to go down this route with the Foxwing?
G'day Charles,
Unfortunately, I don't think this is going to work for your awning. The Foxwing 2.5 Tagalong Tent attaches using a zipper so if you just have a velcro flap it's not likely going to be strong enough to hold it up. There is some variability in height based on the vehicle you mount your awning to, so it might be best to have a look at our video 'How to set up & pack away', for info on how to adjust this.
Will the standard tagalong fly fit the 2.5 tagalong tent?
G'day Jason,
The Tagalong Fly doesnt come in a width compatible with the 2.5 Tagalong Tent, and I do believe there is abit of a clash with connection points between the tent, fly and Foxwing. Because there are so many different options in the Oztent series, and different connection adapters, etc, I want to give them a call tomorrow morning and get a definative answer for you either way.
G'day Jason,
I've spoken with Oztent and theres no compatible fly option for the 2.5 Foxwing Tagalong Tent, however these are in the works and they hope to release them around christmas time.
Is there a fly available for the Tagalong tent, or does the fly for the RV5 fit it?
G'day Luke,
I've double checked with Oztent and unfortunately, there is no fly available for the Foxwing Tagalong Tent. There are plans for one in the future, but there is nothing in production yet.
Hi this tent appears new? Is there a reason it is no longer available as it appears it is a new product?
G'day Bob,
The Foxwing 2.5 Tagalong Tent has been recalled due to a quality control issue they've had. Our understanding is that they are planning to re-release this product but it may be 12-18 months before this occurs.
Update 17/6/19 - We've just heard from Oztent that the quality control issue they were experiencing has been rectified and that stock is ready and available to purchase. Sorry if we've caused any confusion in our response above.
Comparability with Batwing
G'day Martin,
The Foxwing 2.5 Tagalong Tent has been designed to fit with the Oztent Foxwing Awning Series 2. We wouldn't be confident that this would fit the Rhino Batwing as they're made by competing companies. However, they attach with a Multi-Connect system so should fit anything with a velcro/sail track or compatible zip.
The original rv-5 tagalong tent zips on to the batwing as thats what we use. So if its the same zip then it will. Hope this helps
Hi, just as the title asks.... will this fit (zip up to) a Version 1 Foxwing Awning? Cheers :)
G'day Don,
These will fit on your original Oztent Foxwing just fine mate.
