Just womdering if I didn't have a campfire could I use a portable stove under this or something else?
G'day Linda,
This Flat Plate & Grill is really designed to go over a campfire, and won't really heat up well if used over the top of a portable stove. IF you'd prefer you can buy flat plates to pop on to of portable gas stoves that may suit you a little better if you're not likely to have a fire. Have a look at this plate that is designed to go on top of 2 burner stoves.
Is it strong enough to hold a big butch oven?
G'day Su,
I'm going to assume you're asking if a cast iron dutch oven will be ok on the Flate Plate & Grill? If so, then yes, you'll be able to pop a cast iron dutch oven on the top.
Hi, the height says 26cm but is this when it's opened and measured from the ground level to the base of the plate? Some other BBQ plate from other website measures the leg (diagonally) and say that's the height. Can you please clarify for this product as I'm looking for the BBQ plate that will stand around 26cm high above the ground level. Thank you!
G'day Min,
I've just measured and double-checked this for you. The 26cm height is the correct measurement from ground level to the plate.
I can only find one set of dimensions here
G'day Josh,
When you select the size in the drop-down menu the in-use and packed dimensions of the product will update, so just select a size, and then wait for it to update and you can see if the plate and grill will suit the size you're after.
We’ve just used our cooker for the first time and we’re wondering what the best method is to keep it clean when being stored. We gave it a good scrub after cooking with a spatula but if you have any tips or an accompanying brush please let us know. Thanks!
G'day Fanoula,
We'd generally suggest cleaning your flat plate and grill in a similar manner to cleaning a BBQ. Usually, you'll be able to get most things off with a brush and some paper towel, but if you wanted to give it a good clean before storing it for a while you could use some warm soapy water. If you chose this option we'd recommend sealing it with a little bit of oil, similar to re-sealing a camp oven.
I'd like to use this for putting a couple pots over the fire and am not sure if I should get this version or the one without the mesh part. We don't usually do steaks which I assume the mesh part is mostly used for? Or are there any other uses/advantages? Thanks
G'day Mel,
The mesh part will be the best side to pop your saucpans on. The hotplate side is awesome for any kind of BBQing or frying. I'd recommend going for a half and half for versatility, but if you are only wanting to do pots, go for full mesh.
What are the dimensions of the plate without the legs? I'm looking for something that I can sit on top of a 800mm diameter fire pit as the fire pit is too high for the legs to reach the ground
