I need to replace a pole for my double swag, will these flex enough to do the job?
G'day Brendan,
There is some degree of flex in these poles, however generally not enough for swag repairs. We'd generally recommend trying to get your hands on the specific replacement poles for your swag, or altering some aluminium swag poles to fit if there are none available for your model.
Hey team, I need to replace some poles For my Coleman Montana 12. I broke 1 section ages ago and replaced It with a ‘budget’ option. Despite being cut to the same size as the piece it replaced, it didn’t have the same degree of flex. Result after a week in pretty blowy conditions is the pressure ended 2 other sections of the original poles as well. Keen to find a suitable replacement. Cheers
G'day Nate,
It's hard to say for certain whether or not the issue would be caused by the lack of flex or something else. We carry out repairs here in the store with both the COI poles, and Oztrail Dueplus Pole Repair kits, and haven't really encountered issues with either option. It might be worth trying the Duraplus Kit instead to see if that makes a difference.
Just needing a pole replacement for this tent and unsure what size I should get. Any info would be appreciated!
G'day Jasmine,
The Ridgeline poles are aluminium so these fibreglass replacement poles, unfortunately, won't do the trick unless you're replacing the entire pole. If so, you could go for any diameter but the 7.9mm or 9mm will probably suit best.
Do you stock any poles that would be suitable?
G'day Melissa,
You can read more about how to go about this on our blog: https://www.snowys.com.au/blog/how-to-repair-a-broken-tent-pole/
The Chalet 9CV should have 11mm poles, but it would be worth double-checking your poles and tent user manual to confirm.
Need to know the sizes so that we can work out if this product will be suitable.
G'day Brenda,
If you click in the box where is says 'Choose from 4 sizes' it should give you a drop-down menu. The sizes listed are the diameter of the pole, 7.9mm, 9mm, 11mm and 13mm. Each pole section is approximately 60cm long.
would like to know how you put the ends on
G'day Rosemary,
The
I have a kookaburra traveller 3ev tent in need of all new rods. Can you help please
G'day Ann,
I've just spoken to Companion who
They don't have any stock of replacement poles for the Traveller 3V anymore. However, if you still have your old poles then they might be able to compare them to other stock they have to see if it will fit.
If you could send us an email - service@snowys.com.au with images attached of all of the poles that you do have, and let us know the length, width and amount of sections - then we can forward it to Companion and see if they have anything that will work.
Hi. Do I measure the diametre of the pole itself or the alloy end piece? Also Are the pole lengths 60cm?
G'day Cam,
When measuring your poles to see which Kookaburra Fibreglass Tent Poles you need, measure the pole itself as opposed to the end piece. Also, yes the pole lengths are each 60cm.
Hi, I have a Kookaburra 6EV tent and all the fibreglass poles have bent over time. Some are even snapped inside the metal sleeve at one end. There are 3 poles involved. Notwithstanding the bends in the total length as I lie them on the floor, two poles are 6.22m in total length (main tent) and one pole is 4.62m in total length (annex). I have looked on eBay and cannot find anywhere with these lengths. Since you seem to deal in Kookaburra, can you (or can you suggest anyone who can) make these lengths up for me? I work in Canberra, so postcode in 2602 (to determine postage).
Hi Alex,
When it comes to fixing fibreglass poles you won't find them sold in varying lengths, instead, you need to buy a kit and cut them to length. The first thing you will need to do it work out the diameter and number of pole sections you need. Then purchase the kits (FREE DELIVERY to Canberra from Snowys), grab a hacksaw and some patience and start fixing your poles.
It's a fiddly job, but nothing difficult, just make sure you use a sharp fine toothed hacksaw blade and use a file to bevel the edges to keep it neat and reduce the chance of further breakages.
If you want to upgrade the quality of the poles, I'd recommend the Oztrail Duraplus pole kits, these feature an extra wrap over the fibreglass which strengthens and extends the life of the pole section.
I hope this is helpful, it would be an expensive exercise if we were to make them up for you, give us a call on 1300 914 007 if you have any further questions.
I have a tent with two poles. Each pole has 5 segments and a total length of 2530mm when assembled. Both poles fractured at one end with the rod splitting from the end length wise. Crack about 15 cm long.
G'day Leon,
The first thing you'll need to do is figure out the width of your poles so you can get the choose poles with the correct diameter, and get your hands on some shock cord that’s roughly 75% the length of the assembled pole with the correct diameter.
From there it's probably easiest to read our blog post about repairing a broken pole section as that goes into heaps of details and has a photo guide as well.
If you're having trouble, you can always give us a call and one of the Snowys team will be happy to talk you through the whole process.
Hi I have a 2person spinifex hawkesbury dome tent that is missing its poles. Can you pls advise which poles would work for this tent. Thanks A
Unfortunately I'm not familiar with that tent Amanda, being an Anaconda branded tent, however most of the smaller dome tents that we stock here have either the 7.9mm or 9mm poles.
