Give the kids their own separate ‘wing’ while you enjoy the other end as a ‘parent’s retreat’, in the Fast Frame BlockOut 10P Tent from OZtrail.
This baby is a whopping 6m long giving plenty of room for a small battalion’s worth of kids. There are 3 large bedrooms or keep the centre one for a communal living space, but each area is sized to fit queen and double stretchers and airbeds. It’s got a full side awning with removable windbreaks, and the interior room dividers can be zipped up or open depending on your needs. ClimaTech vents enhance the airflow, and with No-See-Um Mesh panels and large front, rear and side doors, you’ve got excellent ventilation throughout. There’s also improved headroom through the Triple Hub Frame system that works to increase internal space and strength as well.
Finish it all off with the BlockOut Technology used on the fly to reduce heat and block daylight and OZtrail’s Fast Frame BlockOut 10P Tent is a top pick for the whole fam-bam.
Our bag has been sliced (no fault of the bag, the fault of our storage), do you know what we could fit it in? Oztrail swag bag?
G'day Sarah,
Yes it could fit in one of the larger Swag Bags although I would recommend the Coleman Heavy Duty Tent Dry Bag, this will be a closer fit and is a strong weather-resistant option.
How much weight cant the roof hooks handle? I have a ryobi light with option of battery or power supply wondering the weight limit to the hooks
G'day Dee,
There's no weight rating info provided, but standard hanging camping lanterns generally don't exceed the 500g mark - or there abouts.
They're not overly heavy duty, tent materials and stitching could potentially fail, so the lighter the lantern the better.
Hiya, just wondering what type / size ground sheet you would recommend for this tent? Mostly just after something to protect the bottom of the tent from damage / moisture. Cheers
G'day Amanda,
We'd recommend the Oztrail Ultramesh Tarp - 3.05m x 6.1m - it will suit the length well, and give you about half a metre of extra width to put shoes etc outside the tent if you have the awning up. You could also go for the 3.65m x 6.1m version if you wanted more space in front of the tent to sit and put things on under the awning.
What happens if the frame breaks, are spare parts available?
G'day Ahmed,
Spare parts can be purchased directly from Oztrail via their spare parts page.
Do the room dividers have fly mesh or are they solid material or do they have a half / half split option?
G'day Tracy,
The internal doorways on the Oztrail Blockout Series are solid.
Is it evenly divided or are the side rooms smaller?
G'day Kate,
The sleeping area of the two outside rooms on the Oztrail Fast Frame BlockOut 10 Person Tent are 195W x 220D cm, whilst the central room is a tiny bit wider at 210W x 220D cm.
Hope that helps!
Hi! I was going to buy the OZTrail Fast Frame Blockout 10 person tent, but the fact that it has mesh at the to[ (obviously covered with the fly) game me pause. I wonder if this tent get cold at all for autumn and winter camping? We usually do all of our camping in autumn and spring... Thanks!!
G'day Tamara,
The Fast Frame Blockout 10 should be fine for all year camping. The mesh top helps to provide ventilation and reduce condensation in the colder months. As long as you've got good quality warm sleeping gear then you'll have no worries in winter too.
What wind speeds is the tent rated to?
G'day Ian,
Oztrail hasn't specified a specific wind speed rating on these tents.
Are lights the only thing that sets the Lumos tent apart from this?
G'day Anna,
The two tents have the same design and materials, the thing that is different is the lighting as you've indicated.
Does this tent offer UV protection? Where can I find further details on this. Cheers
G'day Lynn,
Oztrail doesn't specify whether or not the fabric they use offers UV protection, it is a ripstop polyester material. All of the information Oztrail has been able to provide to us is listed on our website, so if you're looking for any further information then we'd recommend reaching out to Oztrail directly to see if they're able to provide more information for you.
Hi, can the room dividers be completely removed so that there is just one large room? Or are they zipped doors so that you end up with remaining side pieces and a lip on the floor thats a trip hazard?
G'day Trish,
The room divider doors are zippered doors with a small lip at the floor, so, unfortunately, you can't open it up as one large room. If you've got little ones, they may prove to be a bit of a trip hazard.
I read in reviews that people usually recommend buying new pegs for coleman tents. Would you also recommend buyingn new pegs for this tent too, like the Supa Peg 225 or 300mm ones? If so, how many do I need? Thanks.
G'day Jay,
Speaking from experience I do recommend upgrading to at least 4 pegs for each corner of the tent plus another handful for the guy ropes. Wind does tend to help the pegs wiggle themselves out of the ground leaving it vulnerable to damage. The 225mm (plus a hammer) or to be extra cautious 300mm, should do the trick to anchor down the tent, especially in windy and blustery conditions.
Is the entrance door full fly screen or half half with material when open for airflow? Comparing to Coleman instant up 10p gold which is half/half when allowing airflow. Also is the awning in 3 separate bits? Just wondering about leakage through joins if it rains.
G'day Marissa,
The entrance door has a two-third flyscreen in it (you can see this on the third image), so you can get plenty of airflow, while also providing some privacy down lower similarly to the windows in the rooms. The awning is in 3 sections, so you can have just the centre set up solo, or the whole thing out. There are weather flaps over the zippers, however, in wet weather, you make experience some leaking through the zippers on the awning if the whole thing is open.
What would be the set up time for this in comparison with the Coleman Instant Northstar 10P? Also how easy is this to set up in comparison to the said instant up tent?
G'day Normann,
Thanks for reaching out, love your subject title!!
The Blockout 10 Person and the Northstar 10P will take around the same time to set up, we've not done a timed trial as yet, but they have a very very similar design and frame structure. They are just as easy to set up as the Coleman tent and have a near-identical system.
I’m deciding whether to get this one or the Coleman instant up 10p lighted tent.
G'day Arielle,
The front shaded area including the walls are all part of the attached front awning. They have almost the same set up at the front as the Coleman tent.
I was set to buy the Northstar until I came across the new Fast Frame range. I am curious it the are any differences that are worth considering.
G'day Cam,
The two tents are fairly similar to be honest, with the main difference being the integrated lighting in the Coleman Lighted Northstar Darkroom. The Coleman is very slightly wider, and the Oztrail has a slightly higher denier fabric. Overall we're pretty impressed with the new Oztrail tent range, and would happily recommend both brands.
Is the flooring the same as the Lumos version of this tent?
G'day Anna,
Yes the flooring in the Blockout 10 and the Lumos 10 is the same.
I think from Edwin’s review, it seems like Oztrail flooring material is inferior compare to Coleman.
