What groundsheet would work best with tent, including a bit out the front to keep entrance clean.
G'day Daina,
The Coleman Ground Mesh Footprint 4P or the OZtrail Ultramesh Tarp 8 x 12ft would be the closest matches, these will also give you a little extra coverage out the front.
When can we expect one of your great reviews?
G'day Sam,
We are not sure if we will have one in the works just yet but there is a video from Oztrail about the Fast Frame 3P Features on YouTube that gives you a bit of a walkthrough of the tent for now.
I have the Easy Fold Single Jumbo Stretcher, and I'm wondering whether it would fit without rubbing against the walls. The stretcher is 217L x 90W x 42H cm.
G'day Daryl,
The stretcher would fit in the tent but the ends would likely be rubbing on the walls. Once the stretcher is in there you wouldn't have much height left if you are sitting up on the stretcher, but it will work.
In comparison with Coleman swagger 3p, is the floor area same or smaller or larger? Can this also fit a double and a single ?
The Swagger is about 20cm longer, Raj, but the width is the same. You would fit a double swag in either model without issues.
does this have a hook for a light inside
G'day Alex,
Yes, it does. If you check out the second image and zoom in, you can see the hook on the roof of the tent through the mesh.
Hope that helps!
How is it this packs up shorter than the Coleman by nearly 40cm? Are the materials also similar? Thanks
G'day Paul,
The frame structure is completely different on the Oztrail, meaning it has the ability to fold shorter than the Swagger.
In terms of the materials, these are only fairly new so we haven't had a chance to do a direct comparison as yet, but we assume its the same as with the rest of the Oztrail v Coleman tent range.
Whilst both are still excellent tents, we'd lean more towards Coleman in terms of material feel, build, and quality.
Do you need the fly on for shade inside? If you had to set it up in the rain would it collect water inside until you got the fly on?
G'day Jim,
The tent roof is only mesh, yes, which helps with condensation given the overall shape of the tent. The tent inner itself is not waterproof at all, so in rain you will definitely need the fly, and the same applies for shade.
Hope that helps!
Hi - these seem quite similar to the coleman instant up swagger series. Has anyone in store tested them? Do they suffer from the same issue that has been noticed with the swagger series, that the fly touches the inner tent causing excess condensation? Thanks
G'day Hamish,
These are brand new tents, and we haven't even seen one up in real life at this stage. There's no opportunity or chance for these to be compared to the Coleman swaggers as yet. Realistically this kind of feedback takes 6-12mths, and is largely based on customer reviews.
I've got 2 x Swaggers, had them for 2 years & camped in all weather conditions - I've not experienced any issues with rain leaks at all, or condensation outside of what would be expected from any tent. It does seem to be an issue with individual use case, and how the tent is set up, more so than a consistent issue with the design, if that makes sense.
We will have a product review video coming out in the New Year, which will go through this particular tent in more detail.
Other than that, you can use the 'compare' function on our website to look at the side-by-side specifications for this and the Swagger.
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with Lauren ... I had my swagger for a couple of years, but finally got rid of it, because of the leakage issues. It is definitely not a condensation only issue. I loved the swagger until it rained. I set it up every which way, but simply couldn't get the fly to sit away from the tent, hence leaching into the tent, and wet sleeping gear, as a result. I noticed that someone came up with a brilliant idea, using pool noodles on the 4 small spacer arms at the ends... Wish I had known about that. Definitely a design fault. Shame, because otherwise it's a ripper little tent.
Hi team, Are awning poles included in the kit? And, if not, do you have any recommendations for suitable poles? Cheers.
G'day,
Yep! The two that set up the front vestibule door as an awning are included with the tent.
If you wanted a second set for the other side to give it a double awning set up, the Darche Swag Awning Poles extend high enough, but pack down small enough to fit in the bag.
