The Ember is filled with super-compressible RDS certified 850+ Loft Premium Goose ULTRA-DRY Down for maximum insulation. To make it lighter and more compact, this quilt also has a sewn through quilted construction with increased shoulder room to make it easy to wrap around.
When it’s warm, you can stick out your feet and arms of the quilt, but when it’s chilly – cinch in the drawcord to create a foot pocket and attach it to your mat with the strap and press stud system.
If you want to ditch your zip on your next lightweight trip, the Ember Eb1 from Sea to Summit is the versatile sleeping solution you can rely on.
10°C comfort rating, 4°C lower limit
Ultra-light 7D lining and 10D shell for minimal weight and packed size

Two Embers can press stud together to make a double quilt
Just wondering if a long and a regular can still snap together to make a double quilt

G'day Sonya,
Yes, they can, the quilts will obviously just be a bit offset from one another due to the difference in length. Hope that helps.

Cinder Cd1 vs Ember Eb11 answer
Tossing up the pros and cons of these two. The warmth rating and weight are essentially similar. The Ember has a significantly lower packed volume around half that of the cinder. The Cinder will be more durable with a stronger waterproof and windproof outer, 20D vs 10D. The Ember specs do not mention whether the outer is water resistant. Can you clarify for me whether the Ember is water resistant or whether the smaller packed volume is offset by the need to carry a waterproof outer such as a bivy bag. The quilt will be used with a tarp shelter.
John - Gorokan, NSW (3 years ago)
G'day John,
The Ember uses a much higher loft goose down, which means it is a lot more compressible and will have a smaller pack size and volume for the warmth and fill weight. The Cinder has the NanoShell fabric, which is the key difference between the two, although both have UltraDry down which is a water repellency on the down itself. The lower loft means it packs slightly larger. The Cinder may probably be the better option for tarp shelter adventures.

Eb1 Vs Spark 11 answer
Looking to walk the Camino in June. Trying to find the perfect sleep set up. What would you recommend?
Alison - Sandringham, VIC(3 years ago)
G'day Alison,
The Spark is a relatively restrictive bag in its tapered mummy shape, and cannot be opened out if you wanted to use it as a blanket. The Ember has abit more versatility in that it can be coupled or wrapped around a mat, but its also still a functional quilt. If you consider yourself a normal sleeper, you'd aim to get a bag or quilt with a comfort rating of 5*c lower than the temperatures you expect to be in...if you are a cold sleeper, you'd aim for 10*c lower. The average nighttime temp on the Camino in June is 12-14 degrees, so I'd aim for a 7-9 degree comfort rating at the absolute minimum. It also depends on what sleeping mat you are using, or if you are staying in hostels. The other thing to consider is if you intend to use it at other times in your life or if its only going to be something you use on this trip. A couple of hundred dollars is a reasonable investment, so if its a bag or quilt that you might use for other things, it could be good to look at options that will cover a range of situations.
I'm not sure if that information clarifies anything, but if you'd love to have more of a chat and nail down the best option, please feel free to give us a buzz on 1300 914 007.

Eb1 or Eb2...1 answer
I’m looking for a lightweight quilt for the warmer months here in Australia. I have an Ac2 for the colder months. I would use the ac2 all year if it wasn’t so bulky but I’m after something that packs down much smaller for lightweight overnighters. I could be camping anywhere from beaches in nsw, ,high country Tasmania and Kosciuszko national park. Would an Eb1 paired with a thermolite reactor liner be sufficient in these locations in the warmer months, or should I opt for the eb2? Thanks!
Jayden - Riverstone, NSW(4 years ago)
G'day Jayden,
I would definately be opting for the Sea to Summit Ember Quilt Eb2 with this situation. Ideally you should be aiming for a bag/quilt that has a comfort rating of 5 degrees colder than the lowest temps you expect to be using it in, or 10 degrees colder if you are a cold sleeper. Essentially the Eb1 will really only cover you for nights of 15-20 degrees based on that recommendation, and it's always best practice to NOT rely on a liner for additional warmth - and thats from personal experience (unfortunately!). The Eb2 will give you good practical comfort for the adventures you have planned. Hope that helps!

Eb1 Quilt for majority of the year for all Australia1 answer
Gday. I am after a quilt to be used for the majority of the year across the majority of Australia. Would the Eb1 fit that bill? Thinking in the Winter months in the Southern states to then switch over to the Eb3.
Lea - Eastern Heights(4 years ago)
G'day Lea,
The general rule of thumb for sleeping bags/quilts is to work off a comfort rating of 5°c lower than the coldest average temp you expect to be sleeping in. If you consider yourself a cold sleeper, bump the buffer to 10°c lower. Essentially a sleeping bag or quilt with a 5-10 comfort rating is similar to using a bedsheet or a lite blanket. The Sea to Summit Eb1 Quilt would be recommended for temperatures of 15°c and above, and therefore is only suitable for summer adventures only.

Can you zip two of these together for a double option1 answer
Looking for a light weight, with double option (zip together) for temps to 0 degrees.
Toni Bourne - Broome(5 years ago)
G'day Toni,
The Ember sleeping bag range doesn't have zippers so you won't be able to zip them together, but they do have press studs and you can press stud together two Ember quilts to make a double. The Eb1 Quilt has a comfort temperature of 10'C so you'll be quite cold at 0 degrees with this option. We'd suggest looking at the Eb2 (2'C) or Eb3 (-4'C) to be warm and comfortable down to 0 degrees.

2019 and 2018 models1 answer
I’ve seen this same quilt (Ember Eb1 Quilt) but a darker colour, would that be the 2018 model of this quilt and if so, what are the differences between the two? Thank you
Heath - Mount Waverley(5 years ago)
G'day Heath,
The new 2019 models of the Ember Eb1 Quilt are a lighter grey colour. The main way to tell the models apart is their technical specs, the new version has 850 Loft down and a 10 denier outer material. The old model had 750 Loft down and 15 denier outer material. Overall they're the same great bag, with slightly lighter materials, and a slightly different shape which will give you more room at the hip and foot.
