Green rainfly possible?1 answer
Hi I love the details of this tent but not the outer colour. I've seen a green fly cover possible elsewhere. Do you have that option or can you source it for this price? I only need it from late December. Thanks
Andrew - Evanston Park, SA(1 year ago)
G'day Andrew,
The Green Fly isn't available in Australia currently so we are unable to source this at the moment sorry.

Gear Loft1 answer
Does this tent include a mesh gear loft in addition to the built in lofts?
Jason - Port Adelaide, SA(1 year ago)
G'day Jason,
We don't have one of these on display but ive just combed through all of MSR's info and videos and there's no additional mesh sling loft. Looks like the design hasn't changed since 2018, and there is just the 2 x built-in mesh loft sections.

Midge proof?1 answer
Hi, is the inner midge proof? Is it as good as no-see-um mesh?
Kylie - Greenock(2 years ago)
G'day Kylie,
The mesh in the Elixir Tents isn't no-see-um, however MSR specify that it is 20D polyester micromesh. Based on feedback they do a good job of keeping most things out, however, midges can get through almost anything, so we'd recommend pairing it with some repellant if you're in an area with a higher incidence of midges.

vs Marmot Tungsten2 or Fortress21 answer
I have compared all the stats of MSR and Marmot, they are all similar and MSR is heavier. Would be great to point out some outstanding features of MSR compared to Marmot's tents that is worth buying.
Michael - NSW(5 years ago)
I really couldn't recommend one brand over the other, Michael, they both produce high-end tents and you are probably down to small things that are of personal preference.
Some things I would point out are the extra mesh of the interior on the Tungsten being better for warm weather and it offers a bit more internal space. The vestibule design on the Elixir is well considered, it eliminates the point where there is usually unused space and has a different zipper position than most, you are paying a premium price for the MSR brand though. As for the fortress, a reliable tent with a traditional design and full nylon inner which will be warmer, but is the heaviest of all the tents you have pointed out.
At the end of the day, I think you'd be happy with any of these tents, go with what you like the best, or what your gut tells you to do.
