The innovators over at Darche have taken the humble awning to the next level with their Eclipse 270° Awning.
Designed to be freestanding for pack up and set down only, this bad boy can be set up with just one person. This awning is hinged at both ends and goes along the length of the car as well as the rear. Made from Darche’s famous heavy-duty proofed poly cotton ripstop canvas, a light and strongbox tube alloy rafter system, and a heavy-duty steel and alloy swivel hinge system – the Eclipse 270° is built solidly from start to finish.
This awning mounts onto the passenger side of your car, and the mounting brackets that are included will be suited to most commercially available steel basket and flat rack setups. If you add on the optional sidewalls, you can get up to 20.5m2 of shelter around your vehicle. Each optional sidewall can be set up as a wind/weather break or upright awning extension. This allows it to extend an extra 4.2m with the two-pivoting alloy telescopic poles.
If you want to fully kit out your 4WD with some shade, then the Eclipse 270° from Darche is ideal for serious tourers and campers alike.

Hi whats the difference between the gen1 and gen2 darche 270 awning?
Troy - Bray Park(5 years ago)
G'day Troy,
The Gen 2 Eclipse now has a new aluminium hinge system which is hinged from both ends, a stronger 320gsm poly/cotton grid ripstop canvas and new lightweight box tube alloy rafters. These are the upgrades from the Gen 1 according to Darche.

Can the poles extend to 2.2m? 1 answer
We have a troopy, with a roof rack and want to attach it to that, can they go to 2.2m the stability pole things? Thanks heaps
Erin - Port melbourne(5 years ago)
G'day Erin,
I've just measured the pole in store, and i reckon they can go out to 2.35/2.4m before starting to feel compromised. I think you should be right with 2.2m as 2.1m is the average operating height. Hope that helps.
