Up the ante when it comes to shade and shelter around your vehicle with the Eclipse 180 Versatile Awning from Darche.
This awning can be mounted onto the rear of your vehicle, or on the side depending on what you prefer. It's ideal for smaller cars or dual-cab utes but can also be mounted on other 4WDs. Designed to be freestanding and easy to set up by one person, this awning provides 4m² of coverage. There are two pivoting alloy telescopic poles that stow neatly along the rafters when packed, with two additional leg poles included. The structure is comprised of a strong yet light box-tube alloy rafter system that hinges from a heavy-duty stainless steel and alloy swivel hinge system. The awning is made from a 320gsm poly/cotton grid ripstop canvas with 1500mm PU waterproofing and HF seam sealing so it will hold up to use in the harsh Aussie climate.
The Eclipse 180 Versatile Awning from Darche provides great protection on its own, or attach the separately available wall kit to create an enclosed space for even more versatility.

Hi there, can I use my existing Thule WingBar Edge roof racks to attach this awning to?
G'day Ash,
We're not roof rack experts, however based on the profile of the Thule WingBar Edge Roof Racks, it doesn't look like there is an easy way to be able to attach a bracket to roof racks due to the design. We'd recommend reaching out to Thule directly, or your licenced roof rack supplier to see if there is a way to attach awning brackets to this model.
Can this fit packed up with the optional walls attached?
G'day Ryan,
No, it can't. You'll need to remove the walls for pack up, and this applies to all awnings in our range.
I'm not personally aware of any awnings that would allow this, its a huge amount of canvas.
Can the retreat annexe be used with the eclipse 180 versatile awning?
G'day Helen,
The Eclipse Retreat will suit the standard 180 and 270 awnings, but its unfrtunately much too large to suit the 180 versatile awning.
Will this product support itself without poles??
G'day Daz,
None of the Darche awnings are free-standing. In perfectly calm weather you'd be ok to leave it unsupported for a very short time during setup, but otherwise, it does need to be fully supported with poles, etc.
Am wondering what is the maximum distance apart 2 roof rails can be for mounting this awning?
G'day Kate,
The only real consideration that I'm aware of is making sure your awning has a maximum unsecured end length of 60cm.
Considering the backing plate on the awning is 1.5m, theres no concern with the roof racks being too close together.
I'd personally be looking at having the brackets being no more than 1m apart.
Hi, I have a 2m L x 3m W side awning already on my Patrol. I am just wondering if the Darche 180 eclipse rear awning will fit with this?
G'day Renee,
Yes, you can use the Eclipse 180 Rear Awning with a 2m side awning, you'll just need to ensure that you've got enough length/distance between your racks to position the side awning far enough forward to no interfere with the rear awning. Generally, you'll need a third rear rack to attach the rear awning to in a set up like this.
Can this be attached to a Rhino-rack pioneer platform on the passenger side?
G'day Don,
You can mount the 180 Rear Awning on the side of a vehicle. The brackets supplied are L style brackets, and generally able to attach to most roof racks and platforms, however, we're not able to verify the exact fit to the platform you've got, you may need to pick up some extra fixings.
Is it possible to connect the zip on the back side to an oztent RV3 awning using the zip, I do understand that the RV3 is wider but maybe part zipped? I was considering installing this on the back of my UTE (Navara D40) to give cover to the tub and Wanted a bit more length. If not, is it possible to install one of the longer end walls without having to buy the whole wall kit?
G'day Andrew,
This won't be possible, the zipper on the 180 Rear Wing Awning starts at the corner point and runs the full length of the awning, so you wouldn't be able to attach anything to the middle/back section. The other issue is that as far as we're aware the zippers used by the two manufacturers aren't compatible. The only wall option for these awnings is the wall panel kit that covers all three sides.
Would this Awning fit on the side of a car or is it just made for the rear?
G'day James,
You could mount the Eclipse 180 Rear Awning on the side of your car, that shouldn't be a problem. The main difference is that the backing plate is quite a lot shorter than a side awning at 1.5m
Hi I have a 279 with walls. Will the 270 walls fit the 180? Thanks Jason
G'day Jason,
No, the 270 walls will only work with the 270 awning.
The 180 Rear awning wall set is a single wall that spans all 3 sides, which you can find HERE
G'Day just wondering how long these are along the mounting side?
G'day Rhiannon,
The mounting length of the 180 Rear Awning is when packed up is 150cm.
The full length when opened is 420cm.
