The Easy Fold Stretcher Tent from OZtrail takes everything you love from traditional outdoor shelters - the elevation of a stretcher, the spacious head height of a tent and the cosiness of a swag and combines it into one magnificent package.
You won’t even have to spend time setting up your sleeping quarters because this shelter folds out with no assembly required. All you need to do is chuck your mattress, sleeping bag and pillow inside and you’ll be good to go. The fabric is made from water-repellent and UV-protected ripstop polyester fabric.
With three doors you’ll never feel trapped in, and you can just roll out of bed easily no matter how sore you are from yesterday’s energetic adventure. In good weather, you can use it without the fly, and with the mesh roof, you’ll be able to fall asleep while looking at the stars.

Inner mesh 1 answer
How much can you unzip the inner mesh? Can you unzip it enough so that you could lay down and look at the stars without the mesh being in your line of sight and then simply zip it back up when ready for bed?
Rafael - Mittagong, NSW(2 years ago)
G'day Rafael,
Whilst the roof of this stretcher tent is mesh, the only parts that can be unzipped are the two side entrances. There's no zipped option on the roof mesh, however it should be fine enough that it wont ruin the view too much.

How low?1 answer
How low to the ground is the mattress? Just wondering if it will be difficult for an older family member to get in and out of, or if it is high enough for them to sit on as well as get out of.
Siobhan - Brisbane City, QLD(2 years ago)
G'day Siobhan,
That's a great question! We don't have that information from Oztrail, and we don't currently have any of these on display. What I do have here is Ben, whos in the videos, and I've just measured his leg to give us a height reference. I'm feeling pretty confident that the stretcher is 45cm high, and this is a pretty standard height across most brands. The edge of the stretcher is a bar which will give them something solid to push off - so I don't think you'd have any issues there. There's no mattress in the tent itself, more just a lightly padded stretcher material, so the addition of a self-inflating mattress will add a bit of height as well - if that's something they'd like to do. Check out some of our other Q&A responses for mattress recommendations.

Suitable fly.1 answer
Do you have a fly I could put over this tent for further protection from any rain or sun? May be some thing with a silver coating? I do all ready have some poles I can use for a fly.
Daryl - Moranbah, QLD(3 years ago)
G'day Daryl,
Oztrail do a nice light Hiker Fly that may do the trick, but it doesn't come with an official waterhead rating. If you set it up on an angle it should do the trick with rain running off, or you could just go with a good old tarp.

Mesh replacement1 answer
Can the mesh panels be zipped out and replaced if damaged? Is the no-see-um mesh better than the mesh fitted to the oztent stretcher range?
Richard - Botany, NSW(3 years ago)
G'day Richard,
No, they cant. The mesh panels in the Oztrail Stretcher tent are fixed, or stitched onto the tent body itself. The zips only allow access in and out of the tent, and for the panels to be rolled up. "No-See-Um" mesh is essentially a brand name as opposed to a specific product, like "Gortex" for example, so Oztent do use their own superfine mesh on their tents and stretchers. They'll both do essentially the same job.

Size of Self- Inflating Mat1 answer
Which size of the Zempire Monstamat would be best for this? Single or King single?
Maureen - Oak Flats(4 years ago)
G'day Maureen,
Generally, we recommend going for the Single size as this will fit and give you plenty of comfort. The King Single does just fit, but it's a bit of a tight squeeze that puts unnecessary pressure on the material.

What inflatable mattress is recommended for this1 answer
Must be comfortable and not thin
Maureen - Oak Flats NSW(4 years ago)
G'day Maureen,
It's really up to you, and what your budget is, however, we find that most people opt for a 10cm self-inflating mattress. A few popular models we've tried out for size are the Exped Megamat 10LXW, Zempire Monstamat and Black Wolf Super Deluxe

Can 2 Easy Fold Stretcher tents be joined together?1 answer
Can 2 Easy Fold Stretcher tents be joined together?
Mark - Perth (4 years ago)
You can't physically join then together, Mark, they would just need to sit side by side.
I guess you could use some cord or straps to secure the frame in places where they meet, but it's still going to be two separate shelters.

How does this fare on soft beach sand...does it sink1 answer
As per above
Sherwin - Waikiki(4 years ago)
G'day Sherwin,
The feet might sink into the sand a little, but it should still work well, you might need to find a way to secure it down though so it doesn't blow away in the wind.

Can you get a double size bed tent? 1 answer
With mattress
Trevor - Nimbin (5 years ago)
G'day Trevor,
There isn't a double version of the Easy Fold Stretcher Tent, but Oztrail do make the Ultimate All Weather Queen Stretcher, which has some similarities.

How long internally?1 answer
Your features video said it was 198cm when measured but the specifications read 188cm? I'm 6'4" and am wondering if I'll fit.
Lachlan - Perth(5 years ago)
G'day Lachlan,
We've just measured it up for you and internally they are 196cm x 78cm, so I'll get that update on the website. The 198cm is possible with a bit of pressure to create full tension on the fabric. I think you'll just fit, but you might have to tuck your feet up a little.

Pegging down1 answer
Do the feet have peg holes ? and does the awning come with pegs for the guy rope.
Jarrod Myers - Bunbury(6 years ago)
G'day Jarrod,
The Easy Fold Stretcher doesn't have any holes to peg through in the feet but you can generally fit a larger peg up over the footplate. The unit is supplied with some pegs for the guy ropes that will help keep the unit secure.

Exped megamat single1 answer
Will an exped megamat single fit?
Sam - Canberra(6 years ago)
G'day Sam,
We've tried the Exped Megamat 10LXW inside the Easy Fold Stretcher tent and they do fit, albeit a little squished, but yes you can fit them and comfortably sleep in the luxury!

Does this swag come with a mattress1 answer
Mattress for swag
Jeff - Goonellabah(6 years ago)
G'day Jeff,
The Oztrail Easy Fold Stretcher Tent doesn't come with a mattress, but there are a few good options you can pop in them. The Black Wolf Super Deluxe Camp Mat fits perfectly if you're after something self-inflating. Alternately you could put any foam mat in them as long as they're less than 67cm wide.

Packing down with fly1 answer
Is it possible to pack this down /set up with the fly attached? Forever looking to simplify whatever process if possible!
Darren - Perth(6 years ago)
G'day Darren,
I've just had a chat with one of the staff here that owns an Easy Fold Stretcher Tent and she's suggested that it can be done with the fly attached, but it makes it much, much more difficult. So if you're looking to simplify things, I'd stick with doing the inner and outer separately as it sounds like it's the easier method.
