Fly C clips1 answer
Follow up from my original question, the 4 "C clips" on the bottom of the fly clip to the legs but just ride up , there is no tension on the fly so it stays loose! I am sure my original version clipped taught same as the Oztent version. I now need to peg down each C Clip to the ground, maybe I am doing something wrong? Cheers

G'day Den,
I can see how the C-Clips would ride up the poles and not keep this very taught, this is where the guy ropes come in handy. I would use and peg out every guy rope on the fly and you could even add extra to the eyelets on the fly to help tension this better.
Pegging them into the ground should be fine but it is the guy ropes that create most of the tension for the fly and that helps direct water runoff.

Seam Sealing fly1 answer
Is it worth seam sealing this stretcher tents fly? If so which product? I am on my second from snowy,s over the years but they do tend to leak a bit especially at the foot end! I would like to buy another for a friend and for the times I don't want to take my Oztent RV due to limited space at my home to dry out the Oztent if it gets caught in the rain. Cheers

G'day Den,
These are fully seam sealed and have a 1500mm waterhead rating, so there's no point doubling up. The issue with these is generally more condensation, which is often mistaken for leaking. Being such a small space, the area inside heats up warms up more than with a larger tent which has more internal airspace. Its also common with small hiking tents and swags.
The best bet is to increase ventilation and make sure all guy ropes, etc are pegged out so there's perfect tension across the fly. After a few years, it may be beneficial to revamp the fly with a DWR treatment that helps water bead and roll off the material, so it's not sitting and soaking in. The DWR treatment is usually the first to deteriorate, and is the first supporting element of a fully waterproof tent.

Fly - pack with stretcher1 answer
Hi Can the fly be left on, when packing up, so the stretch, tent and fly all fold up into one bundle - or do I need to take the fly off, before packing (folding) away? Thank you
Geoff - Fraser, ACT(7 months ago)
G'day Geoff,
Because of the way the fly needs to be connected for tensioning, and the way the frame folds, we recommend removing it for pack up. Its also the best way to ensure there's no damage to the waterproof fly coatings.
