For star loving couples, the Darche Dusk To Dawn 1400 Swag features two large entries that roll completely open for an unimpeded view of the night sky.
The Dusk To Dawn is a freestanding swag that caters to all users and provides an ultimately comfortable sleeping space with a 7cm high-density foam mattress. Vents at both ends feature large storm flaps, and zippers inside allow access to the vestibule space above your head.
A heavy-duty PVC bucket floor provides protection from
Hi guys, Are you able to recommend a suitable ground sheet to put the 1400 on?
G'day Andrew,
The footprint of the swag is 215L x 140W cm, so anything as close as you can get to that would be ideal - otherwise, you'll need to peg through the fabric.
Groundsheets are necessary to use with swags due to how heavy duty the flooring on them are. Theres nothing specifically made for them, but if its something you want to go with the Ultramesh tarps are a good option, you just wont get one small enough.
This means you will have covered area infront of the swag, or you could fold the ground sheet to size.
Hello, I see these swags come with a bag. Are they waterproof. I'm wanting to travel with this on my roof rack, just wondering if the swag will get wet if its raining? Is there any treatment solutions for the bag to make it waterproof? cheers
G'day Luke,
The swag bag is not waterproof, and unfortunately, there's nothing you can do to it for complete protection from water with this bag.
You could possibly get wax options for the canvas but the zips will still let water through.
If you are wanting a 100% waterproof option, check out the Darche Nero 240 bag.
Where can I get correct height awning poles for a 1400 Dusk to Dawn swag
G'day Ian,
Darche do Alloy Swag Awning Poles, however, most brand 'Swag Awning Poles' should do the trick.
With the Darche self inflating mattress would it roll up inside the swag ? Thanks
G'day Daniel,
You can absolutely roll the 1400 All Terrain Mattress up inside the swag, but I'd probably recommend pulling it out and rolling/compressing all the air out of it & sealing it up first...then you can lay in inside the swag and roll altogether without too much effort.
It most likely won't fit inside the swag bag though, just one thing to bear in mind.
Hey can you tell me if the flap poles are included and pegs/guy ropes etc. TIA team.
G'day Bonza,
The swag comes with everything you'll need to set it up in the closed position, but if you're wanting to use the side flaps as mini-awnings then you'll need to grab a swag awning alloy pole set. You can find them under "you might also like" at the bottom of the page.
Can you confirm what self inflating mattress would fit in this swag please
G'day Daniel,
Most of the double self-inflating mats are about 130-135cm wide, by 200cm long, so none of them will be an exact fit for the swag, but we have a few good options that will come close. We'd recommend looking at the Exped Megamat Duo 10 and Zempire Monstamat Twin, they're our most popular options in this size.
Loving the idea of a swag for when I'm camping without the family and am set on a dusk to dawn. I'll be touring so setting up at night and breaking camp at dawn.. how do you handle dew though? If you pack a swag while it's still dew covered, seal it in a bag and throw in on your roof to spend a day in sun, not only are you risking mildew but that dew is going to soak everything in the bag. I'm sure it's easily handled because I've never read about it being a problem, but I cam't figure it out.
G'day Andrew,
Dew and ice can often be a factor when camping, especially down south and in desert regions. Unfortunately, the only option is to wait for the sun to come up and dry your swag out, otherwise you'll be packing it up wet. Try and air it as soon as possible like lunchtime or when pulling up to camp early if it's super damp. I think you'd be very unlucky to get mould forming during the day though. When you return home make sure to give it a good clean. You can find a link to our blog on caring for your swag HERE.
Just a question regarding a more recent question received. So the dusk to dawn swag (1400) has been upgraded to a 7cm thickness mattress. But won't be available until sometime October? Does that mean orders of this swag until then will contain the old 5cm thickness?
G'day Calum,
The new Dusk to Dawn 1400 has been upgraded to include a 7cm mattress. At this stage, we are expecting stock in late September or early October. Any pre-order placed now will receive a 7cm mattress when the new stock arrives.
hi just wondering the mattress size for the dusk to dawn 1100 & 1400 i thoughts they were 5cm thick on your website info on the swags it says 7cm in two places once in the description and again at mattress thickness. have they upgraded to a thicker mattress?
G'day Dave,
The brand new models that are due to land in October are coming through with 7cm mattresses, so yes you may have seen it showing 5cm thick if you looked a few weeks ago.
Just wanting to know if the is an upgrade option for the mattress
G'day Ryan,
The swag is just sold as a package deal with the included mattress, but we do have plenty of people who will also grab a secondary self-inflating mattress or 70mm 1400 Swag mattress to pop in them and then keep the supplied foam mattress at home in the shed as a backup.
Hello :) Just wondering if you sell or can recommend a stretcher that would fit the Dusk to Dawn 1400? Thank you.
G'day Tam,
The closest fit would be the Easy Fold Queen Stretcher, they are a tad shorter than the swag so there would be some overhang. However, we generally don't recommend the double swag and stretcher combination as all of the double/queen width stretchers have a bar down the centre which will give you a bit of a hill in the middle of the swag.
Are darche products still made in Australia or just designed here then made in china?
G'day Zach,
Darche is Australian owned, and their products are designed in Australia, however, they manufacture in China.
Door or not
G'day Louie,
The end windows of the swag can be zipped open or closed, however, they're a little small to really use them as a door.
Hi I was wondering if there is a stretcher &self inflating mattress that would suit the 1400
G'day Chris,
The Darche Dusk to Dawn Swag 1400 won't really work with a stretcher, as there is a centre bar on the stretcher that doesn't work so well with swags. We do sell the Easy Fold Queen Stretcher that you could pair with the swag, but we generally wouldn't recommend it. You could put any double/queen self-inflating mat inside the swag. You can find a few good options here.
Will this swag roll up and fit in the supplied bag with the Darche Cold Mountain Canvas 1400 sleeping bag? And does the Darche Cold Mountain Canvas 1400 sleeping bag fit nicely inside when the swag is up?
G'day Marc,
I can confirm that the Darche Cold Mountain Canvas 1400 will fit well inside the Dusk to Dawn Swag 1400. We'd generally suggest to roll up your bedding separately, but you can roll the sleeping bag up inside the swag it will just add a little thickness to the overall roll.
Hi, According to Darche's website, the Dusk Til Dawn now comes with "with zip down windows at both ends". Can you confirm this model now comes with both mesh and canvas windows at each end?
G'day Jules,
We have a Dusk till Dawn 1400 on display right now so I've double checked for you and it definitely has both canvas and flyscreen windows at both ends.
Hi, can you roll this swag up with bedding inside? Sheets and a doona?
G'day Summa,
You can roll the Darche Dusk to Dawn Swag 1400 up with the bedding still inside, just be mindful that it won't pack down as small as it does when you've not got the bedding inside.
Hey just wondering if this is 400gsm or has it been updated to 420gsm like the darche website
G'day Joshua,
I've just double checked this for you and can confirm that the Darche Dusk to Dawn Swag 1400 has a 420gsm canvas. We'll get this updated on our website right away.
The packed dimensions on the specs seem a little optimistic? In particular the height and width. Just wondering realistically what this would pack up to after use?
G'day Ben,
The Darche Dusk to Dawn Swag 1400's dimensions on our website are how the swag comes from the factory. Becuase it's machine rolled, it's pretty small as you can imagine. When hand rolling it, it might reflect something a little more like 35x35cm.
Hi there will the Exped megamat fit inside either with or instead of the Darche supplied one ?
G'day Karl,
The Exped Megamat 10 Duo will easily fit inside the Darche Dusk till Dawn 1400 as the mat is only 197L x 130W cm.
However, if included with the existing foam mattress, depending on how much effort and precision you want to put into pack up, it may become a little too bulky to roll up altogether - notably, you may not have enough strap length to hold it all together once rolled.
What height is this approximately when it's set up? Is it taller than the 900 and 1100?
G'day Annette,
The Darche Dusk till Dawn Swag 1400 is 80cm at its peak. This is the same for both 900 and 1100 models also.
How thick is the canvas and what are the length and width dimensions once set up?
G'day Ryan,
The Darche Dusk to Dawn Swag is made from 400gsm canvas, and is 215L x 140W cm when it's all set up.
Does this swag come with a matteress
G'day Sean,Â
It sure does! The Darche Dusk To Dawn Swag 1400 comes with a 5cm hi-density foam mattress.Â
do you post to New Zealand
Hi Grant,
I'm really sorry but we only deliver within Australia.Â
Hi Genevieve, the Darche Dusk to Dawn only comes in one shade - Khaki. Keep in mind the swag may appear lighter or darker depending on the colour settings on your screen.
I was just wondering if the fly screens at each end have canvas so they can be closed in colder weather?
