Signed by the maker, Brad believes in his craftsmanship so much that he has stamped his name on the back! The iconically Australian Down Under 75L Dual Zone Fridge/Freezer from EvaKool is made for the serious adventurer.
The dual-zone cooling system is backed by the world-renowned Secop compressor and highly efficient roll bond evaporator. The tough metal cabinet has a white powder-coated finish and the roto-moulded lids seal closed with heavy-duty metal latches. Each zone can be independently operated so you can switch one off when you’re at the end of your trip and running low on food. Just consolidate your perishables into one side and power down the other for a super-efficient system. The handles are spring-loaded and there are built-in tie-down points neatly integrated into the cabinet so you have extra security when going off-road. This unit is designed with an Anderson style connection so you can power it up with a simple plug and play, and a 12V/24V slimline power adaptor is included.
With the ability to customise the lids as left or right-hand opening and 75-litres of capacity, EvaKool’s Down Under 75L Dual Zone Fridge/Freezer has been built to work.

G'day. Just wondering what the sound level on this is like to say an Engel 60L or Domestic 75L dual zone? Thanks.
G'day Brendan,
We've done a rough sound level comparison on our range of fridges, which you can find here.
Hopefully that gives you a good indication!
What is the difference between the Downunder and the Travelmate. Which is better (subjective of course)
G'day John,
The DownUnder is a new fridge, so we don't have any feedback on performance and wear n tear.
On the face of it, the only real difference is the materials, with the DownUnder being predominantly made of metal, where the Travelmate is mostly Polypropylene. The power consumption is the same across both models, and they have the same compressor and warranty periods. According to EvaKools website, the Travelmate also has 59mm thick insulation, where as the DownUnder is 50mm.
Is this fridge a true dual zone? Many dual zones use only a single compressor & cooling with more cooling in freezer section. Those types make it difficult many times to get both zones as you want them.
G'day David,
A Dual Zone fridge by definition has two zones. Fridges with two zones do not require two compressors, they simply have a valve control that sends as much refrigerant as required to each zone, in line with the temperature settings. Pretty much the same as your home fridge/freezer.
The fridges you are talking about are not 'Dual Zone', they are generally known as Combi or Combination fridge/freezers. They have a single cavity, instead of two individual sealed ones, and have a 1/2 sized zone that operates on one side of the fridge cavity. You set the temperature to freezing, and by default, the other side will sit a few degrees warmer.
To confirm, the Evakool is a Dual Zone fridge - hope that helps!
