hi, can 2 of these draw fridges be mounted one on top of the other and does it have a drain tube at the back for moisture or condensation to drain which would be run outside the vehicle.
G'day Brenton,
No, the DC40 Drawer fridges are not stackable, you need to have a platform or cupboard in between them so they can be safely mounted.
We have both the instruction and installation manual as a PDF online so you can find out everything you need to know about using a drainage tube.
Hope that helps.
Can you please advise if this has a low voltage disconnect and if so, what battery voltage does it disconnect at?
G'day Tony,
There isn't an inbuilt low voltage cutout on this fridge. As they have been designed to be fix mounted we'd recommend having a plug wired directly to your second battery rather than your main crank battery.
I’m trying to figure out where to put it in my van and have to allow for the draw to be fully opened. Is the 83.6cm depth with the door closed?
G'ay Bec,
I've checked with our display model. The 83.6 is with the fridge door closed. With the drawer fully extended it comes out another 50cm's from the front of the fridge.
Is this DC40-DRW-S the latest model? There also seems to be an DC40-DRW-SA, what's the difference?
G'day Jason,
Thanks for your patience with this one, we've been waiting to hear back from Evakool. They've confirmed that the model is actually the DC4-DRW-S, the A is a glitch in their internal system and hence is showing only on their site. This model was updated about 8 months ago to have a Secop compressor and now has two compartments with two lids.
Installing 12 volt what fuse size
G'day Alan,
The recommend fuse size when running on 12V is 15 Amp.
Just wondering what the dimensions are for the new model yet to arrive. Wanting to install under seat of motorhome. Current model successfully installed in same model M/Home but do you know if new model is the same? Do you know what the difference/improvements will be in newer model yet to arrive and difference in price?
G'day May,
All of the size information we have is available on the product listing. We have the current model, which was upgraded late last year. They've made a few changes to the connector and mounting tray, the compressor has been updated, and they now have an internal light.
Is it the dc40-drw-sa model that has just been released
G'day Jamie,
The current stock we have is the DC40-DRW-S model. As far as we know the new DC40-DRW-SA model won't be available in Australia until late January 2021.
can the compressor be relocated like the other drawer fridges
G'day Jeff,
Evakool have advised that the compressor is unable to be relocated with this drawer fridge.
Is the weight of 35kg correct? I ask as the Waeco draw is half the weight at 18kg.
G'day Trev,
We don't physically have any stock to double-check at this point, but the weight matches other sites, so we assume it is correct. The Dometic/Waeco Draw is fridge only, and a smaller capacity, so I assume the weight is saved mainly in the compressor.
And how much does the mounting bracket raise the draw off the floor?
G'day Dan,
The height of the unit is including the mounting bracket. If you have a look on page 10 of the user manual there are some more specific diagrams that also include options for the compressor mounting. I'll ask our graphics team to see if they can add some dimension diagrams to our listing as well, as I'm sure we'll get asked this by others too.
with the fridge attached to the mount will the overall width now be wider than 595mm?
G'day Kai,
I've measured our display model which is sitting in the mounting bracket and the width is 595mm. There is a silver nut on each side which does protrude slightly further- about 5mm out further than the frame. You can see the nut on the first picture above.
Hard wiring or plug in? If hard wired, can you separate the unit from the wires for if you ever need to remove the fridge? Or is it truly a permanent fridge?
G'day Caroline,
Yes, this drawer fridge requires hard wiring. It is designed to be fixed into your vehicle on a permanent basis, however, you could get an auto electrician to install a detachable wiring harness if you really wanted to be able to remove the fridge occasionally.
**Update 6/11/20 - We've been advised by Evakool and an observant customer, Chris, that the new model does come with an Anderson connection already installed on the back, and the buyer needs to have a Grey Anderson to Anderson/Cigarette Plug / Hard wired extension to plug it into their system.
Does the mounting bracket come with the fridge??
G'day Dave
Yes, the new DC40 includes a heavy duty floor plate style bracket to secure the drawer fridge to a flat surface. The fridge locks into the bracket so you don't need to drill into the fridge / use any additional tie-downs!
