The Companion POL Cylinder Hose Kit is commonly used for portable stoves and BBQs, hot water systems and large gas bottles.

This 1.5m long hose allows you to connect a BOM fitted appliance to a POL cylinder which removes the need to connect to disposable cartridges, so you can reduce your gas costs and create less waste.

Safe without a regulator?1 answer

I have an older style Safari Chef HP with an adaptor to use the 468g propane bottles instead of screw in gas canisters. I am interested to know if I could use this hose to connect directly to my swappable LPG bottle, but I'm just wondering whether I'd need a regulator

G'day Rob,

HP means high pressure, which means your Safari Chef needs an unregulated gas supply.
This hose connects to to a BOM/UNEF fitting on a stove, and a POL connection on a gas bottle. If you can confirm your cooker's gas hose port is the BOM/UNEF connection then this hose should be ok.

You can use the Companion POL to BOM High Pressure Gas Hose 150cm connected to the regulator arm and then to the bigger gas bottle. This must be connected to the provided arm as this contains the regulator.

No, this hose isn't designed to attach to Gasmate stoves, it has a very specific fitting that is only compatible with a few stoves/heaters. If you'd like to use your Gasmate 2 Burner n Grill Stove with a 4.5kg swap and go bottle, you'll just need a POL to 3/8" BSP adapter.

I have just ordered this, hoping and assuming that it is compatible with my companion Aquaheat Lithium gas shower, to enable connection to a POL gas bottle instead of the little BOM cartridges. Tara on your phone-line and I believe it will be correct but you never know until it arrives !

Yes, you and Tara are absolutely right, this hose will allow you to connect the Aquaheat Lithium directly to a POL gas cylinder with no worries.

Yes you can use the Primus Cylinder Hose Kit - POL with the Companion Portable Propane Heater. The fitting on this hose is a POL fitting, which is the standard fitting for most 4kg or 9kg gas bottles you'd find with BBQs or at swap and go outlets.

I'm sorry to hear that it's a bit of a pain to refill your 3/8" gas bottles, that must be frustrating!Â

I've just checked with our gas fitting expert in store, and he says that the connection on the Primus Cylinder Hose Kit won't fit onÂ the Primus High Output 2 Burner Stove.Â

What you need is a Gas Cylinder Adapter POL - 3/8", this adaptor will allow you to use your stove with a POL fitted gas bottleÂ which should take care of your problem.Â

This hose will do the trick Amanda, the smaller of the two ends fits to the gas inlet on the heater, and the larger fits to a POL gas bottle. Make sure you confirm the gas bottle fitting is correct, there are two options, a POL fitting (code #40619) and a 3/8 fitting (code #40620). The latter of these generally suit smaller gas bottles. Give us a call if you need help confirming this.
