Birds1 answer
I know someone has asked about possums getting into the bin but how tough is the mesh to stop birds pecking through. Hate waking up in the morning and finding rubbish has been strewn around camp.
Mary - Sydney, NSW(1 year ago)
G'day Mary,
The mesh has holes in it, so if a bird has a small enough beak to peck in the holes, they can. The toughness of the mess wouldn't stop that, even if it was made of wire! In terms of the mesh being able to be ripped by a bird, I'd be pretty confident that it wouldn't be. Never heard of that being an issue at all, and we've sold these for years. If you are concerned about birds having access through the holes, your best bet would be to get a super tough bag. You could also consider replacing the mesh insert for something solid like a calico or canvas, which would be a pretty straight forward DIY fix.
Hope that helps!

Possums1 answer
Would this keep possums away from the rubbish?
Lily - Sydney, NSW(3 years ago)
G'day Lily,
The netting might help to protect your rubbish, however possums can generally get into anything they put their mind to!

Weight rating? 1 answer
Just wondering if it is weight rated at all please? If using large garbage bags with heavier rubbish in the bag will it hold up?
Megan - Perth, WA(3 years ago)
G'day Megan,
Great question! I've touched base with Croc Bin on this one and they've advised a 5Kg max load rating.

What are the dimensions? Would it fit on top of the elemental collapsible bin?1 answer
.
Jason - Melbourne (4 years ago)
G'day Jason,
The internal circumference of the croc bin is 24cm, so it's too small to fit on top of the elemental bin. Even if it was large enough, it's way too heavy, so the bin would just collapse.

Bag size2 answers
What size bin bag does this take?
Peter - Blue Haven(4 years ago)
G'day Peter,
They're designed to take your standard disposable style plastic shopping bag, with space for bags up to about 36 x 26 x 12cm.

We attached ours to the gazebo post. It didn't matter what size bin bag so long as there were handles. We tried small, medium and large bags. For the larger bag, we just placed the bin higher.

How do you mount it to a tent pole?1 answer
Can you please explain how this bin can be mounted to a tent pole? What would stop it from slipping down? I would like to use it in the annex of our camper trailer so it would not be a permanent fixture. Thank you!
Raegan - Darch(4 years ago)
G'day Raegan,
The pole fitting for the bin includes a u-bolt with a thread on each end. This goes around the pole and through the holes on the bracket and is tightened by wing nuts to fit securely around a pole. There are instructions for both fittings on the outside of the box.
