Do the plates swivel to the other side to avoid imbalance?1 answer
If a heavy pot is placed on a plate surely that could bring the whole thing over.
Michelle - Harrington NSW(4 years ago)
G'day Michelle,
Having used this in the past to either cook directly on or put frypans on, they seem to be quite stable - however, I guess this would also depend on how far the pole is underground. The plates do swivel around so you can use the fire to your best advantage!

what are the sizes of the plates?1 answer
what are the overall sizes of the cooking plates?
braeden - riddells creek(4 years ago)
G'day Braeden,
The Large Plate is 91.5 x 40.5cm, and the Small Plate is 41 x 41cm. The sizes listed are measure from edge to edge and don't include the triangle-shaped pole attachments.

Plate Mount1 answer
Hello,
I am curious by what means is the bottom plate adjustable, does it have a collar that the tube of the BBQ plate sits on enabling it to swivel or does the pipe of the BBQ plate have a wing nut/bolt to stop it sliding down the verticle pipe.
Regards,
Troy.
Troy - MOOREBANK, NSW(8 years ago)
G’day Troy – that is a very astute question! Each plate is held in place by a T nut grub screw. The bottom plate can either sit on a long collar provided (for extra sturdiness) or on a locking pin that can be placed on several locations on the main shaft.

Underground Length1 answer
Hi I was actually wondering how much of the pole can be underground before it affects how much room you have left for the fire to be under the main plate. So I think you are telling me that the full pole length is 93cm only from top to bottom?
Michelle - Woods(9 years ago)
Hi Michelle - That's going to vary and depend on the sort of ground you're driving it into. The softer the ground, the deeper it will need to be whacked in. Let's say you fire is on very soft ground so you lose quite a bit of length - let the fire die right down/add or remove coals before cooking over it. Heat control will be achieved by both adjusting the height of the plates and adjusting your heat source. Does that make sense? I've emailed you a link to a really useful article by the Cast Iron Boys about heat control that might be helpful. Cheers, Paul

How long is the stand from base of large flat plate?1 answer
Michelle - SINGLETON, NSW(9 years ago)
Hi Michelle - Both of the plates can be moved up and down the length of the 'stand'. So really, you have around 93cm of height to play with. Hope that helps. Cheers, Paul

Overseas purchase1 answer
Hi, I would like to purchase something like this in NZ, do you freight overseas?
Rebecca - Auckland(9 years ago)
We only ship within Australia sorry Rebecca. There must be stores in NZ that sell something similar, I'm not exactly sure where though, you could try and call the supplier of this product which is Companion Brands, they may be able to give you a lead.

cooking combo1 answer
just want to confirm that it comes with both the larger grill/hotplate combo cooking surface as well as the smaller grill cooking service as well as the hook for a billy can?
what thickness is the solid hotplate?
brad - CRANBOURNE NORTH, VIC(9 years ago)
Hi Brad,
Yes this combo includes a large hotplate/grill, a small grill, two hanging hooks and a convenient carry bag. It's difficult to measure the thickness of the hotplate due to the rim but it is a flame proof heavy gauge hot rolled steel approximately 3mm thick. Hope that helps.

Is is possible to get an extension pole for the base1 answer
I have a firepit and I want to be able to have a pole in the firepit permanently and just add the Campfire Cooking Combo when required on top of the pole (it's a large firepit so the pole that is on it won't be long enough as is anyway)
Alison - PERTH, WA(9 years ago)
There is no 'off the shelf' pole extension for this sorry Alison. A visit to the hardware store or scrapyard for some tubular metal would provide you with a solution.

How is it mounted?1 answer
Hi I am wondering whether this product is designed to be concreted in ground or bolted to a solid surface?
Tristan - BUNBURY, WA(9 years ago)
Hi Tristan, you can mount this either way. Cementing it in obviously means it is permanent, but you can use a mallet and drive the stake into the ground at campsites, you will need firm ground for this to ensure the stand stays upright.
