Those possums can be pretty sneaky. The compact bin is made from a material that is similar to lighter weight tents, so it should do a fairly good job of keeping them out, although I have seen them get into some well-secured bins, so it's a tricky one!

The Elemental Compact Bin should do a great job of storing shoes inside for the night. We'd never thought of using them for that purpose but we think it will work well.

I've just checked, and it looks like there is no lid on the Elemental Compact bin.

I've just visually inspected the bin and it doesn't appear to be waterproof. The specifications from Elemental also don't mention anything about waterproofing either. Upon looking at it, the nylon is stitched together but the fabric isn't thick and there is no seam sealing. While this may prevent some liquid from leaking, I can't be confident that it would prevent all liquid from leaking.
