The versatile Classic Dome 4+ tent from Black Wolf is a great shelter for campers who want to keep it simple – and catch some extra shuteye on a weekend away.
The inner is made from polyester and no-see-um mesh and features twilight technology, which makes your tent darker so you can get to bed earlier and sleep in without the morning light blinding you. In terms of weather protection, the fly has a 2000mm waterhead rating to guard against a drizzle, while the roll away side vents and no-see-um mesh provide air flow on warmer evenings.
The interior is very liveable as it has a generous internal head height, there’s space to sleep four people, and you can store your gear out of the elements in the front vestibule. The Classic Dome 4+ from Black Wolf is a modern spin on a traditional tent, that gives you the option for a better sleep in on your next camping expedition.
Sleeps 4 people
Twilight panels on the inner for early nights or sleeping in
Generous internal head height
Front vestibule for storage
Rollaway side vents and rear door access for ventilation
We’re looking for new 4p tents for our Girl Guide unit, how tall do you need to be able to set this tent. They’re very capable in erecting tents & the weight of this tent is good
Catriona - Thornbury, VIC(7 months ago)
G'day Catriona,
Yeah, absolutely. My first tent when I was 11y.o was a small dome tent just like this one. They'll probably need a practice run and may need to open up the doorways, as standing inside the tent makes it easier to get the clips onto the frame in the centre. Otherwise, there's two of the team around 5ft who've both put this tent up before - you shouldn't have too many issues.

Setup time1 answer
Hi, can you please advise a rough guide on setup time for this tent?
Matt - Brisbane(1 year ago)
G'day Matt,
Dome tents are actually pretty quick and straightforward to set up. The first time or two will be longer when you get to know your tent, but you could realistically set one up 15mins if you wanted, up to 20-25mins if you're happy to take your time.

Blackwolf Classic Dome 4+1 answer
The fly is rated 2000mm and the spec says is suitable for 'guard against drizzle'. I need a tent which is going to give protection against heavy rain. Is this not suitable for that?
Hi there, Just double checking that there are internal privacy screens that you can unzip from the inside?
keith - NSW(3 years ago)
G'day Keith,
Im not sure what you mean by internal privacy screens sorry, as this is a single room tent. I assume you mean solid window covers? If that's the case then yes, these windows and doors have both mesh and solid covers.

Geodesic frame ?1 answer
G'day Is Black Wolf Classic Dome 4 a geodesic frame tent, and if not is it possible to summarise the main differences between it and a geodesic frame tent? Thank you.
Matt - Leichhardt(4 years ago)
G'day Matt,
The Classic Dome 4 isn't a geodesic design, it's a standard square design with two poles that cross each other. Geodesic tents will have 4 poles that cross over the body of the tent to improve overall stability, they are generally heavier but will withstand windier and more variable conditions.

Can inner tent be closed off completely?1 answer
Can one have privacy by being able to close the window panels when only using the inner tent? This is not clear from the description, photos or the video. Not many tents seem to have this feature.
Roberto - Melbourne(4 years ago)
G'day Roberto,
The tent is only designed to be used with the fly on, if the tent is set up without the fly there is no structural stability or guy rope attachment points so it's not something we'd recommend. The internal sides are just made from mesh, so if the fly wasn't on the tent there wouldn't be any privacy.

Comparison with Outdoor Connection Escape 4?1 answer
We're looking for a tent for a trip up north. One of our requirements is that you can close the windows of the inner tent for privacy, so that seems to narrow it down to this Black Wolf, and the Outdoor Connection. How do they compare?
Tania - Melbourne(4 years ago)
G'day Tania,
The Classic Dome 4 and the Escape Plus 4E are both great options. The Outdoor connection tent has a slightly different layout with an extended inner under the front sloped area of the tent. They also have a slightly higher waterhead rating on the fly. We'd happily recommend both of these tents and with only 2kg in weight different and 10cm in sleeping area we'd say it comes down to personal preference.

Twilight material compared to Coleman darkroom?1 answer
I have a Coleman dark room instant up and love their black out fabric but hate that it packs down so bulky. I'm thinking about getting this tent because it's smaller packed and claims to have "twilight" fabric to make it dark. How does the darkness compare to the fabric of a Coleman darkroom fabric?
John - Ashcroft(5 years ago)
G'day John,
The Classic Dome 4 has blackout fabric, but it's not quite as dark as the Coleman Darkroom fabric. It should help to reduce light, but it won't completely block out all light as the darkroom does.

Comparison to Zempire Neo 41 answer
Looking for good quality tent for 1 adult & 2 kids - thoughts on this Blackwolf vs Zempire Neo 4 vs Outdoor Connection Escape 4? Their specifications all look pretty similar so finding it hard to work our pros/cons of each.
David - 2000(5 years ago)
G'day David,
The main points of difference with the Black Wolf comes with the Lifetime Warranty, and the higher grade 'No-See-Um Mesh' which is purported to be midgey proof, where as the Zempire Neo 4 has a more rigid Geodesic frame increasing the usability of space, and a higher waterhead rating. If you're expecting to camp rain, hail or shine, I'd lean towards the Neo 4. Having said that though, they are both great tents, and I think you'd be happy with which ever you choose.
