G'day Mike,

Absolutely to both! Just be sure to not overfill the bottle if you're freezing it. In terms of heat, just be sure to watch your hands if you fill it will boiling water, I regularly use mine to make a giant cup of tea, or hot lemon drink if I'm working outside in winter and need something to keep my hands warm in the process.
