Just when we thought Waeco had everything covered, they released the Waeco CFX-95DZ2 Dual Zone Portable Fridge Freezer and raised the bar again. Two independently controlled compartments and Wi-Fi compatibility that communicates with the CFX-95DZ2 app, surely this is as well thought out as a fridge can get.
Further development on years of research conducted on the way in which we use portable fridge freezers for camping, fishing and touring has resulted in an ultimately versatile fridge made with quality materials and components to ensure your Waeco CFX reliably transports your food on any adventure.
You can control and monitor your CFX via their app using Wi-Fi Connection. This app allows you to control and monitor the temperature, and it will inform you when the lid is open for longer than 3 minutes. Now you can keep your food and bevvies under control without having to pull over or get up from your comfy chair. The display is now also dimmable, which makes it easier to use in low-light conditions.
Reliably powered by a genuine Waeco compressor, the CFX-95DZ2 provides class leading cooling performance in any fridge and/or freezer combination you require so you can keep your drinks cold and your ice-cream colder, perfect for group camping or big families.
Looking at buying one that is 6 months old.
G'day Lindsay,
We're not 100% sure whether it is or not, so we'd say your best bet will be to double-check with Dometic Australia. You can reach them on (07) 5507 6000.
Would like to know the full set up that would be required to run this fridge/freezer, lights and fan.
G'day Tom,
To run the Waeco CFX 95DZW Fridge via solar we would suggest picking up the Dometic Portable 180W Solar Panel, this should keep your battery topped up enough throughout the day to ensure you have enough power stored to run the unit overnight. The CoolPower RAPS44 Power Pack will pair nicely with the panels and can be connected using the supplied cable with alligator clips. You may have enough power to also run lights and a fan too, but it will depend on the weather and how much power your able to capture with the solar panels.
Can I ask your thoughts in a comparison between this Waeco dual fridge versus two 40L Eva Cool drawer fridges stacked on top of each other? I think the Eva Cool would take up less room and eliminate the need for a slider? Can the two Eva Cools be connected to the one extra battery? General thoughts?
G'day Lynn,
You will find that you use twice the amount of power draw if you opt for two Evakool fridges. You also can't stand bottles up inside the Evakool, if that's a concern at all for you. Either way you go, we'd suggest looking at a dual battery system for your car to make sure you're not caught out in the middle of nowhere. Most people get a dual battery system with their Dometic Waeco CFX 95DZW Fridge.
There was a power usage question asked previously but wasn't answered regarding usage for fridge and freezer at same time
Sorry, Adrian, we missed that detail in the previous question. We did need to dig around for this info, and as it turns out the info we had on our site was slightly incorrect, it is, in fact, more efficient than what we initially stated. The power consumption we had listed is actually for the fridge being used as both a fridge and freezer at the same time, with the larger compartment being set at 3°C and the smaller at -15°C in an ambient temperature of 32°. I hope this information is useful.
Can the opening/hinges be reversed to open from other side?
Sure can, Adrian, I've added the user manual to our product page. If you download this you can see on page 13 some instructions on how to reverse the lids.
Would it risk draining the vehicles battery?
There are a few considerations here Sanso. Firstly, it is always best to run your fridge from a secondary power source, that way you are saving your car battery purely for starting your car. However, this isn't always possible.
If you are going to run your fridge from your standard car battery, it is likely that the power to the power outlet will be cut once the vehicle is turned off, if this is the case then you don't run the risk of flattening your battery, but your fridge won't run while your car isn't running.
If you were to change the power outlet so it is powered even when the vehicle is switched off you can use the battery cut out feature on the fridges which cut out when the battery reached a set voltage in order to retain enough power to start the vehicle. The downside of this is that a regular car battery is not a deep cycle battery and won't run a fridge for a long time without the charge it receives from the alternator of your car (whilst running).
The length of time the fridge will run from a battery is purely dependant on the number of Amp Hours it is capable of delivering.
I hope this helps, feel free to give us a call if you want to talk this over with one of our team. 1300 914 007.
how much power does it use eg one side as freezer one side as fridge and both together i read a earlier comment that the power cable was a bit lite is there a heavier cable available
G'day Peter,
The Dometic Waeco CFX 95DZW Fridge uses about 1.25Ah/h on average. As for the cable, if you wanted to get it hard-wired, you can probably get some thicker cable for it from your auto electrician.
How long does the standard warranty go for on these fridges?
G'day Nelly,
The Dometic Waeco CFX 95DZW Fridge comes with a 3 2 year warranty period. They are fully covered against all manufacturing defects for 3 years from the day of purchase plus the refrigeration compressor (materials only) is covered for a further 2 years.
Can you use both sides as a fridge and/or both sides as a freezer
G'day Bob,
I've just double checked this with our fridge expert, also Ben, he told me that you can use both sides as both fridges, both freezers, or one of each!
Can you use this 24/7 as a home fridge and freezer?
G'day David,
You most certainly can use the Dometic Waeco CFX 95DZW Fridge Freezer as an everyday fridge or freezer if you wanted to.
And Is there anything you can't control on the panel? I don't take my phone camping
G'day Derek,
I'm almost certain that the wifi can be switched on or off and there is nothing critical that you can't control from the unit itself such as temperature and battery protection. The app just provides a bit more user functionality like voltage drain and when the lid is open.
and after about one minute powering down
G'day Brian,
We're not all too sure what the issue with your 95DZW is, we do have some expertise but generally for troubleshooting or warranty we have to send our customers directly to a Dometic Service Centre.
As you're in Tassie, your best bet would be to contact your local Dometic/Waeco service centre, as they'll be able to tell you what's going on with your fridge.
I’ve spoken to Waeco – and they’ve said the closest is Reitsema’s Electrical which is 275 Hobart Road, Youngtown and their number is (03) 6344 5039.
