G'day Dave,
The CFF45 Fridge has a slightly smaller capacity and had had some minor changes to the external box and lid mechanism. The CF50 model is now a discontinued model and no longer available, however, both fridges have the same compressor. You've asked this question on the fridge unit only, however you can purchase the CFF45 in a package with the cover here.

Other than being about 2-3L bigger and lid opening from side what’s the difference vs the cf-40 and cfx-40?

Just to clarify, I assume we're looking at the difference between the CFF-45 and the CFX-40 as we've never stocked the CF-40. The big difference for a lot of people would be the better compressor in the CFX series, which comes with an extra 2 years warranty on parts. The CFX series also feature wifi connectivity so you can monitor the temp etc from your phone rather than having to purchase a separate, wired display panel. They also have a USB power outlet and will draw a little less power all up.
