What size fridge would I need to buy for just myself? Is 45L too big?
G'day Sue,
That's a hard one to answer as it depends how much stuff you'll want to keep in the fridge, how long you are going away for, etc.
I'd say anything between a 25-45L fridge would be suitable for a sigle person.
Give us a buzz on 1300 914 007 if you want to run through this abit more. I can see you're also in Adelaide, so it may be worth heading into store to check out the sizes on display aswell.
Is it possible to buy just the cover?
G'day Jenny,
Unfortunately not, Dometic doesn't do the CFF covers as an individual product anymore.
It's been a fair while since they did, but you may be able to find somewhere that still has some in stock.
In this case, a google for the particular size you need would be the best bet.
You say some solar panels , which ones
G'day Karen,
If you're looking at the CFF45 and the RAPS battery pack, then the Dometic 120W Solar Panels will be your best bet.
Does the Dometic CFF 45 fridge have built-in 3 stage battery protection? Does it have a drain plug?
G'day Tim,
Yes the CFF 45 has 3 stage battery protection, however, it doesn't have a drain plug.
CF and CFX have VMSO but can't find mention of it for this
G'day Ian,
The CFF model has a Secop Danfoss compressor, so no VMSO as this is a feature specific to their own Dometic compressors in the newer models.
What are the internal measurements of the cooling compartment?
G'day William,
Ben shows the internal measurements in the video including the main area and the area above the compressor. Have a watch of the video and let me know if you need any other measurements and I'll have a look for you.
Can I run this fridge using dometic coolpower rapS44 power pack & solar panel/s?
G'day Judith,
Yes, you can use the Raps44 and some solar panels to power your CFF 45 Fridge.
Hi is this a weaco fridge?
G'day Kacey,
Essentially yes, Dometic was previously known as Waeco in Australia.
Are these designed to be running full time non stop? or are they only supposed to be used for a week at a time? I would plan to be using this as my full time fridge (since I plan on van dwelling). Thanks!
G'day Grant,
We can see no issues with running this fridge full time. If anything it is better, than only using them periodically!
Hi, Is the wire basket required to be used? I assume it's use is to allow better air circulation but was wondering if you could do damage by not using it? Thanks
G'day Jarrod,
We've just had a chat with our expert in the video, Ben, and he's confirmed what you were thinking. The basket creates a bit of an air gap for circulation and also stops things sticking to the walls in freezer mode. We'd say theoretically you could use it without the basket, but we wouldn't recommend it as it might lead to damage if things in the fridge knock against the walls.
As someone with a solar/battery/240v-inverter setup I'm curious if I should run this fridge from 12V directly, or if I should use my own inverter and use the fridges 240V input. That is: Does this fridge transform 240v down to 12v internally to run a dedicated 12V motor/compressor, or does it internally invert-up to 240V ?? It makes no sense for someone with both inputs available to invert up to 240V with their inverter only to have the fridge then transform back down to run a 12V compressor, or vice versa. :D
G'day Jared,
The Dometic CFF 45 Fridge is designed to be run directly from 12v or 240v, so no inverter required, that has all been built into the unit internally. They are supplied with both cables so you can use it at home, or on the road from the vehicle. I hope this makes sense and clarifies the question for you.
I have a 120 aH dual battery system installed in my vehicle. Just wondering how many hours it can run (considering battery on full charge) without recharging of the battery? As I am using ESKY and generally keep loads on top of my ESKY like camping chairs, tool kits while traveling , will CFF45 has the strength and durability to take topup load on the lid?
G'day Rajib,
I had a chat with our resident 12V expert and if we're making a few assumptions and being very conservative with our estimation, we'd say you'll get around 12-15hrs continuous use of the compressor from a 120ah battery. You'll possibly get more, but as I said we were conservative in our estimates just to be on the safe side and avoid damaging your battery. Given that the fridge will cycle on and off you'll get much more 'real-world' usage, but there are so many variables here it's hard to give an exact number.
If you're using the transit bag to add more protection you should be fine if you needed to load some gear on top of the fridge. Just be careful and try to get your lighter gear stacked on top if you can.
