Liveable and spacious, yet still relatively light - the Catalyst 2 Person Tent from Marmot will keep you reliably sheltered on casual camping or hiking expeditions.
This tent has a larger interior volume with two D-shaped doors for easy access and a vestibule on either side for storing your gear. The Catalyst 2P has a freestanding design, with colour coded easy pitch clips, poles and fly for a breezy setup. The seam taped full coverage fly provides a 1500mm waterhead rating for protection in the elements, while the polyester taffeta seam taped 2000mm floor shields you from the ground up.
The clips are placed strategically to create more interior space, and Marmot have cleverly added a lamp shade pocket which you can pop your headlamp into for ambient lighting inside your shelter, and interior pockets to keep essentials organised. Roomy enough for two, yet not too heavy for a lighter adventure, the Marmot Catalyst 2 is the freestanding tent perfect for casual trips away.

Would this be suitable for Australian weather desert conditions. Hot during the day and below 0 at night. Most dome tents get very hot during the day.

G'day Steve,
I've had a chat with our hiking expert and this tent is perfect for hikes and desert conditions. The mesh inner provides ventilation to reduce condensation plus it allows for heat to escape during the day.

Overland Track - suitable?1 answer
Would this tent be suitable for the overland track in feb/ march?
Hannah - Hawthorn(4 years ago)
This would be fine for the Overland track, Hannah. The main limitations you might find would be if you were to use it in particularly cold environments as it has a full mesh inner, so you'd need to make sure you had warmer sleeping gear, but February and March weather shouldn't be a problem.

Are you absolutely sure that the second door is fly mesh not just very light fabric ? the catalyst 3 is mesh only on one side , I would settle for the three if it had mesh on both doors. 1 answer
as above

G'day Trevor,
Yes you are correct, I had to physically get one out and check it for you, but I can confirm that one of the doors is mesh and one of the doors is a lightweight polyester material.

is there insect mesh on both doors ?1 answer
Insect mesh on both doors ? and ventilation vents in the fly ?
Trevor Pearce - Yankalilla(5 years ago)
G'day Trevor,
The internal tent body of the Catalyst 2P is pretty much all mesh. If you have a look at the 3rd and 4th picture you can see what the internal tent looks like, both doors are mesh. There aren't any ventilation vents in the fly itself, but with the end panels and side vestibules pegged out you should get a fair amount of airflow.
