The traditional design, cosy double size, and surprising versatility are what make the Roman Camper Double 400 Sleeping Bag a great investment for all your outdoor expeditions.
With a comfort temperature rating of 0°C, this bag has a soft cotton flannelette lining and durable ripstop polyester outer to contain a warm and thick synthetic fill. Anti-snag zips run the full length of the bag, so it can be opened into a quilt or keep it closed and just open the separate foot zip for extra ventilation.
The zips on the Camper allow you to transform this bag into two separate quilts, so they’re a versatile addition to your camping kit. There are also hanging loops on the bag to air it out and store it. For the couple that likes to camp together, or the family who needs a versatile model for everyone to use – the Roman Camper Double 400 Sleeping Bag is a stellar choice.
Wanna know if the sleeping bag is good for a hot night or just cold nights
G'day Mathew,
The Camper Double 400 has been designed for use in 0-10'C so it should suit most weather conditions. If it is quite hot you can completely separate the top from the bottom and just use one layer as a quilt which should have you covered for warmer nights.
It might sound silly but is it wind proof? Or is it just to be used inside a tent?
G"day Lucas,
This is designed to be used inside a tent, so it doesn't have any water or wind-breaking capacity.
It’s water resistant? Can I use on the grass ? Thanks
G'day Amanda,
This bag will need to be used on top of a sleeping mat, or tarp, as they're not water-resistant.
Is there a sleeping bag liner available for this product?
G'day Antonio,
There are a range of options you can use as a liner for this sleeping bagh. The Sea to Summit Cotton Travel Liner - Double is popular and listed in our "you might also like" section. If you're after a fabric with a little more stretch then you could also check out the Expander Liner Double.
Hi, Could you connect one more single roman sleeping bag to this double to make a triple? I camp with my 2 little kids and want to get a wider sleeping setup than the double. thanks.
G'day Jill,
Good news, you can zip the Camper Double 400, with the Camper 400 sleeping bag to make a really big sleeping bag.
Is there a better compression bag that could be used with this sleeping bag? The one that came with mine unfortunately broke, and doesn't compress it all that far anyway
G'day Jack,
Unfortunately, the storage bags for the Roman Double Camper 400 3D aren't available separately. We do sell the Sea to Summit Compression Sacks however these are going to be a bit small for the double-sized bag. You could pop your sleeping bag in a Medium Canvas Duffle Bag, however there are no compression straps on the bag. In general, this type of sleeping bag won't compress very much due to the type of fibre in the sleeping bag.
The description says it can be unzipped into 2 quilts. Can this be zipped up agsin and used as 2 separate single sleeping bags?
G'day Aaron,
You can unzip the Camper Double 400 Sleeping Bag to make it into 2 separate single sleeping bags.
Hi there, I would like to enquire whether this sleeping bag is machine washable? Thank you!
G'day Jeanique,
We'd recommend hand washing your Roman Camper Double 400 Sleeping Bag. If you want to machine wash it though, we'd recommend a gentle setting and ideally in a front loader if possible.
I read the q and a but can i zip 2 if theses together so it is a double double?
G'day Grahame,
No reason why you couldn't as the side and bottom zips are separate - but it would be a very big 4-person sleeping bag!
Does this bag have a zip on both the left and right sides of the bag or is it just on one side of the bag and across the bottom. Thanks
G'day Michael,
The Roman Camper Double 400 has a zipper down each side of the bag, and two zippers down the bottom that meet in the middle (so that the bag can be seperated in two) if that makes sense.
I'm looking at the roman double and the roman big man sleeping bags and noticed the filling is a different material. Whats the difference between the 2?is one better then the other? Is one warmer then the other? we want something that is big enough to cover a queen mattress that will have 2 adults and most likely 2 kids in it. Thanks
G'day Megan,
I’ve just checked for you and while they have slightly different names, both fillings are basically the same which is a synthetic hollow fibre. The Camper Double Sleeping Bag and the Big Man Sleeping Bag from Roman have the same rating of 0° C so they should be equal in terms of warmth.
As for the size – the Roman Camper Double would be the only one that would come close to fitting that many people inside it. We’d recommend considering getting two bags as it’ll be more comfortable, and you’ll still be able to share them as they are quite large.
G’day Sun, we’ve just spoken with the representative for Roman and found that this bag actually has a 12 month, as opposed to a limited lifetime warranty. A 12 month warranty will cover manufacturing defects on this product, but not any wear and tear. I really do apologise for the mistake in the product description. It’s a good thing you asked - otherwise we may not have realised the error so thank you for bringing this to our attention so we can fix it.
Im wondering if this is the only sleeping bag you have that can be used as a double or if other brands you sell have the left/right zip set up needed?
G’day Milly, the Roman Double Camper is the only bag in our range because that can be made into two separate single sleeping bags, or used on its own as one large bag. The Darche Cold Mountain 1100 and 900 were made especially to be zipped together– and can be purchased in left or right models. The Rivergum XL from Oztent can be purchased with left or right zippers - but currently you can’t select that online so you’ll need to drop us a line/email to let us know if you purchase. You can also attach two Coleman Pilbara Sleeping Bags together by laying them on top of each other (as opposed to zipping from the side). All of these models are great sleeping bags, but the Roman is probably the most versatile of the lot.
