The roomy Apex design features an upper with an extended head flap for weather protection, and a mesh head panel which can be zipped closed to keep insects out. Full-length side zips allow the upper to be completely folded back for an ultimate outback night under the stars.
The Apex can be set up in multiple configurations and is pitched by tying the included clip-on guy ropes to fixed objects, or with the optional pole kit. With the optional pole kit, do you need to use guy ropes with the poles, or will the poles keep the swag up by itself?

You'll need to peg out some guy ropes, but they come with the swag itself to attach at those pole points anyway. Hope that helps!

The head height is around 80cm when pitched with the Optional Pole Kit. The longer pole in this kit can extend to about 1m in length.

The AOS Bushman K/Single Swag is more traditional and hence only has the mesh at the head end opening. If you'd like the same brand and quality, then I'd recommend the AOS Tracker K/Single Swag. This has a full length mesh which is Mosquito and Sandfly proof.

I reckon the Bushman pretty much ticks all the boxes Geoff, it it designed to be tied to a fixed object or can be pitched with an optional pole kit. It has a 70 mm mattress but it is made with 14 Oz canvas rather than your preferred 16 Oz , it is however a top quality canvas. The other option is the Jolly Swag Matilda, this has a small fibreglass pole at the end to create foot space, and is made with 15 Oz canvas on the top and 17 Oz on the base.
