You just screw the lid off the top and fill like you would a normal drink bottle.

The Platypus Soft Bottles are very durable for such a light weight option. I don't think we see any major problems with them, they're certainly strong enough to squish them into the seat pocket on a plane if you needed to! You can read some of our customers reviews of both the closure cap and push/pull cap versions by clicking here and here. It looks like a few people have used thiers trekking in Nepal etc.

We don't stock the Sawyer mini filter, so we're not too familiar with it Marcus. As far as I can find this filter is compatible with water bottles, but unfortunately we can't confirm whether it will fit on the thread on the Platypus bottle. It might be worth going back to the place you purchased the filter from to see if they can point you in the right direction, I'm sorry we couldn't be of more help.
