A robust aluminium square tube framing boasts standout, freestanding strength, while a 280gsm polyester cotton canvas construction shields from heat and rain thanks to its UV50+ protection and 3000mm waterproof rating. An awning that extends beyond any other, its A-frame arms offer added strength while bonus poles and ropes further restrain your setup in windy conditions.

80 series tailgate1 answer

Will this awning be ok on an 80 series lifted landcruiser with a tailgate and not barn door? I guess it depends on how high the awning is mounted.

G'day Anna,

The position of the rear struts of the awning mean that they don't really work too well with the tailgate liftback style rear opening. You can generally open it a little, but not all the way (depending on the size and location of your spare wheel).

Have you had success in fitting the Boss Shadow 270 awning to a rhino rack platform on a Isuzu MUX without hitting the open tailgate? Seems you have to manually stop the action of the tailgate mid-opening?

G'day Steve,

Generally 270 awnings with the extrusion across the back of the vehicle are not compatible with lift back boots.
You may still be able to open the boot, but not the whole way, so whether or not a 270 awning is the right fit for you would depend on how often you'll want to open up the boot, and for how long at a time you'll need it open.
