Will this be to hot for summer use ? Do you think it has enough ventilation Cheers
G'day Graeme,
This will be a good tent for summer use, this has ventilation vents at the top of the tent and multiple around the base as well as the big entrance mesh door. Although polyester can heat up more than canvas in the sun, the ventilation should be adequate to keep good airflow and keep the temp down inside the tent.
It looks like a single layer tent, interested to know would it has condensation issue if 2-4 people sleep in with only the side windows open.
G'day Thomas,
Correct, this is a single-layer tent, so will be prone to condensation compared to other options, however, all customer feedback so far has been excellent!
Ultimately, keeping the side windows open is the only real thing you can do to offset this, but I would recommend keeping an absorbent towel in the tent with you so you can give the roof a quick rub down in the mornings if needed. Also, making sure all guy ropes are out, and the tent is well tensioned, will stop any unwanted drips!
This is what we recommend with all single skin tent options as a 'just in case', it certainly isn't a known issue with this tent.
Hope that helps!
Is it ok for use during winter here in OZ?
G'day Heidi,
The Explore Planet EarthBellbird Glamping Tent is a 3 season tent, meaning it's ideal for 3 seasons, Spring through to Autumn.
For a Winter level tent you'd be looking at something with a minimum of 3000mm waterhead rating.
Hope that helps.
Just wondering what has changed with the new version. I notice the "shade coat" as a noticeable change, but was wondering if there was anything else.
G'day Dat,
The newer grey version of the Bellbird Glamping Tent is nearly identical, other than colour. Explore Planet Earth also increased the size and peak height of the front door for easier access.
Does explore planet earth sell an inner mesh tent for this as well? Cheers!
G'day JJ,
Explore Planet Earth doesn't sell an inner mesh tent for the Bellbird, however the front door is dual layer, so can be set up as just mesh if you're wanting some bug free airflow. There are also low floor vents that are dual layered and can also be used for bug free airflow.
Is there a specific footprint or tarp that suits this tent?
G'day JJ,
There isn't a specific footprint or tarp that will fit the Bellbird Tent due to the shape. We'd recommend pairing up two of the Oztrail Ultramesh Tarps in 2.44 x 4.88m and overlapping them a little to keep your floor protected, and give some space around the tent too.
May I know what is the height on the top most of the A frame entrance. Thanks.
G'day Ramil,
Unfortunately, we don't currently have a display model to measure, however, based on the information I've been able to get the current model (with the darker grey trim) has a head height of about 160cm at the apex of the opening. This is about 50cm higher than the opening on the older model (with orange trim), that you may or may not have seen in older youtube product videos.
Hello, is this easy to put up and down? Can I assemble on my own or will it take two people? Thank you
G'day Nichola,
The Bellbird Glamping Tent is relatively easy to set up and will generally take around 10 minutes. You should be able to set it up solo, however, it will be easier with a second set of hands.
For ease of cleaning? Or is it all sewn together. Thank you!!
G'day Lucky,
I've checked with the experts in our store and unfortunately, the floor of this tent doesn't unzip.
How waterproof is the tent? Will it stand up to an overnight storm?
G'day Kylie,
The Bellbird Glamping Tent has a 2000mm waterproof rating so it will keep showers and light rain out in most scenarios. We'd suggest proceeding with caution in storms though, as most tents are susceptible to damage during storms.
Hello, I am wondering how the explore planet earth Bellbird tent stands in windy conditions compared to the colman instant up tent? Is there a chance the bellbird tent will fall down in strong wind as it seems there is not much support to hold it securely? We are heading to the coast and are expecting changeable conditions. Thank you.
G'day Samantha,
It's very hard to say exactly how the Bellbird Glamping Tent will perform in windy conditions. We'd say based on user experience it won't handle wind as well as the Coleman Instant Up Tents. The Glamping Tents are best in fair weather conditions, so you might need to keep an eye on the tent and make sure it's well pegged out in variable conditions.
I have a heavy duty canvas bell tent and it has been through a massive storm with high winds. I did add a heap more lines as we were warned of the impending doom but it held up well. I would guess if the guy ropes are decent and you eased appropriate pegs then this tent may surprise.
Hi can this tent be adapted with a fire / heat proof stove jack and therefore safely use a wood burning stove inside it?
G'day Geoff,
The Bellbird Glamping Tent isn't really designed to be used with a woodburning stove. Theoretically, you could make some alterations to the tent but this would obviously be at your own risk, and we wouldn't recommend it sorry.
Is the canvas good quality Are you previous owners happy with your purchase
G'day Conrad,
The Bellbird Glamping Tent is a polyester tent with a 2000mm waterhead rating, so it's not canvas, but it will keep you dry with no need for an extra fly. We have only had positive reviews of this tent, so we're pretty sure you'll be happy too!
If not is there anything you can do to make mould resistant?
G'day Conrad,
The Bellbird Glamping Tent has a polyester fly material, so as long as it is dry when you pack it up you shouldn't have a problem with mould.
Hi, Just wondering if anyone knows how this tent behaves in windy conditions? Or if Snowy's have some info? I've heard the canvas versions of this style of tent are fairly sturdy in the wind, and am wondering how this one fares. Thanks.

Hi, we are looking for our first weekend family tent and I am wondering whether this tent has enough space for a queen and single bed, plus cooking area? Also is it ok to use a stove top inside the tent? I want to take my daughter glamping around Victoria on long weekends and we need a light tent that will fit in our sedan with our stuff.
G'day Jennie,
The Bellbird Glamping tent will have enough space for your queen and single bed, you'll just have to set them up either side of the centre pole. Gas stoves cannot be used inside a tent due to the carbon monoxide they produce. The only stove you can safely use inside a tent would be an electric stove (if you have a powered site).
Is this bell tent waterproof?
G'day Rachel,
Yes, the Bellbird Glamping Tent is waterproof, the material has a 2000mm waterhead rating, you can read more about waterhead ratings here.
Does this come with all guy ropes and pegs as pictured?
G'day Atticus,
Yes, the Bellbird Glamping Tent comes with all guy ropes and pegs pictured.
This is marked special order - when is stock expected to be available?
G'day Suzy,
Special order items are ordered in from our suppliers when we receive your order, so you're looking at 7-9 business days for it to reach our warehouse then we'll get it sent back out to you straight away. Just remember to add the transit time from us to you onto this for the total expected timeframe.
The 4m looks squishy for a queen air bed, even one that is low to the ground.
G'day Tenners,
We don't have a display model pitched at the moment so I wasn't able to test this out for you sorry. But looking at the dimensions and the video I can't see a problem fitting a queen airbed in. The 'double high' models might bring you a little bit
I was looking to buy a 4mx4m bell tent too. So I did a quick mathematical computation based on a QB of 2m(L)X1.55m(W). By placing the mattress lengthwise in the middle, i.e. with the centre tent pole touching the middle point of the length of the mattress, the 'hypothenus' (measured from centre pole to the diagonal edge of the mattress) works out to be around 1.845m - this leaves clearance of about 15.5cm (6") from edge of mattress to bottom of tent wall. Not sure how high the vertical wall of the tent is at the bottom, but I think a QB mattress of 38cm could just fit in.
Received my Bell tent this week. Set it up with a 203cmX158cmX49cm QB air mattress which fitted in nicely still with some room to wiggle.
G'day Kong,
Thanks so much for your input! We really appreciate your feedback. It's great to know a queen airbed will fit nicely with plenty of space left over.
