Bringing the best of new-age technology to their products, Companion’s AquaHeat Lithium Gas Shower will elevate your comfort while camping.
With an integrated and rechargeable Lithium battery, you can get between 60-120 minutes of run time off a full charge. Add in the 2L per minute flow rate and the built-in gas regulator with BOM connection provides the ability to use either a propane cartridge or a ULPG cylinder (with a separately available hose). The quick-connect fittings make attaching the 1.5m pump hose and 2.5m shower hose hassle-free and no worries if you get caught out with a flat battery. The AquaHeat allows you to recharge while showering by operating directly from the included 2V DC lead and connector or a separately available AC adaptor. There’s a digital display control panel, so one glance will provide inlet temp, outlet temp, battery charge level, and an on/off dial. There’s also an auto-ignition one-touch switch on the showerhead for greater control and convenience.
Giving you hot water in seconds, anywhere, anytime, the AquaHeat Lithium Gas Shower from Companion is a super easy solution to keeping clean while camping.
Could you use the Joolca Off Grid Plumbing to filter river or lake water into a bucket that the Aquaheat pump sits in?
G'day Paul,
Cant see why not? The only issue that there could be is if the flow rates are different and you're getting an overflowed bucket, or empty bucket.
You should be able to fine tune this on the AquaHeat though, so should largely be able to offset it
Does the pump have a filter if you wanted to use river water?
G'day Nick,
There is not a filter on the pump and in the manual it advises not to use water from rivers, lakes or the ocean.
The user manual states that you can only use a BOM fitting or a hose with a 3/8 thread...I am a little unsure why this is the case considering my understanding was the pressure inside a 9kg with a POL and a smaller bottle with a 3/8 was the same.
G'day James,
Its a requirement of the Australian Gas Association for gas products to be used with the attachments and equipment provided, as this is how the product has been safety tested.
Aftermarket hoses and adapters arent covered for use under the product warranty, and they also come with an increased chance of risk/gas leaks.
Ofcourse adapters, etc are widely used by campers but this is an individual choice as opposed to being recommended - if that makes sense.
The provided hose and a 3/8th to POL adapter would be what you're after if that was something you wanted to pursue. Bear in mind that POL is now defunct, although there are still some swap and go's with that fitting still floating around. LCC27 is the current fitting, so possibly 3/8th to LCC27 for the future.
Hi. Can I purchase a replacement battery?
G'day Ann,
We don't sell the batteries separately although you can get spare parts with the supplier. Call the Adventure Operations/ Companion service team on 1300 362 921 and they should be able to help with a spare battery.
Can the battery be charged with the solar panels from the same brand?
G'day Josey,
It would need an extra adaptor to connect to a Compnaion Solar Charger, you would need to use the 12V Plug/Cord that's provided and connect it to an Anderson Plug to 12V Socket (this one is from Supercheap Auto). Then connect the Anderson side to the regulator on the Solar Panel/Charger.
This should allow you to charge the unit via a Solar Panel. The unit should also be switched on to charge the battery.
Can you pump cold water with it without removing the gas bottle? I want to use this to pump kitchen water and choose to use hot water when I want to
G'day Tao,
Yes, you can. We have these set up with the 12v showers on display instore, with a barrel of cold water. If you don't have gas connected, they'll just cycle cold water.
Hope that helps.
Hi can you recycle your shower water & re use the same water a few times with this unit or will it affect the pump. Also does it come with a spare fuse when you purchase the unit?
G'day Chris,
It's recommended to use clean water through this unit, you can recycle the water as long as it is fairly clean. This unit doesn't have a filter so if you were to use dirty water it could affect the pump. The Companion AquaHeat doesn't come with a spare fuse but the size needed is a 5A 250V (5mm x 20mm), the fuses are located in the cigarette lighter and pump power inlet.
Guys can you tell me if pump will fit into a pro quip 22ltr large mouth jerry can?
G'day Dave,
I don't have one of those jerry can here at the moment to double check the measurements, but the Pump Housing has a diameter of about 6cm. Unfortunately, it is a little too large to fit in the majority of Jerry Cans.
The Aquaheat unit, is it waterproof?
It's not specifically waterproof, Arthur, a vey light shower now and then will be ok but it ideally needs to be kept out of or used under something that will protect it from the rain.
Hi there, I tried fitting the companion hose to a 9kg bbq gas cylinder, but the connection isn’t compatible. Am I missing an additional part?
G'day Aiden,
The AquaHeats don't come with a gas hose, so I'm not sure which companion hose you have purchased sorry. It also depends on what connection you have on your gas bottle - 3/8th BSP, POL, or LCC27 are the ones currently in circulation.
If you are able to get in touch with those details, we'd be happy to advise you further.
Hi there I have purchased a 2 kg lpg gas bottle. This is different from normal 4 & 9 kg bottles with the adaptor. Could I use this with the companion heater? . Given the canisters are butane and the lpg is propane are there any issues with heating output and safety?
G'day David,
I'm not sure which canisters you are referring to that are Butane, but this unit is only compatible with Propane and LPG.
If you want to run this unit with a larger LPG cylinder, you'll just need to pick up an additional gas hose thats compatible with your gas bottle fitting. I'm assuming being a 2kg bottle that it's a 3/8th BSP fitting, in which case you'll be needing one of these.
Hope that helps, give us a buzz on 1300 914 007 if I've missed the mark on your question &/or you need further info.
Does the pump automatically turn off when you shut the water off at the shower rose?
G'day Paul,
It doesn't, no. The switch on the shower rose simply stops the flow of water. The pump will run 100% of the time, if you want it to stop you'll need to turn the unit off.
Hope that helps.
Can you buy the hose connections separately? Or is it a type of adaptor sold elsewhere?
G'day Doot,
I assume you're referring to the hoses that are connected to the shower head and pump unit?
Companion Brands sells replacement parts for these units, so if you have troubles with the shower head, or pump then these can be purchased separately. You can reach them via their contact us form here.
Is it possible to transport or store it on its side instead of upright?
G'day Esther,
I've been through all the product information, including safety and general warnings - there's no mention of needing to store or transport this unit upright, so you shouldn't have any issues.
Can this be used inside a campervan?
G'day Heather,
Portable gas appliances should never be used in an enclosed space.
These need to be set up outside only. If you have a window or doorway, or something to feed the actual shower head through and have that inside, you can - but the actual hot water unit/burner itself must be outside.
Is the gas necessary, or can it heat the water by battery power alone?
G'day Glenn,
Great question. The powered component of this unit if to operate the pump for circulating water only. The heating can only be provided by the gas flame, much like instant hot water systems in a residential home. Without gas, you could be brave a take a Wim Hoff cold shower!
Hi team i have the smart tek unit, are these similar in size when in the bag?
G'day,
The sizes when all packed in the bag are similar, the Smartek will be a tad larger but narrower, whereas the Aquaheat is a tad smaller but wider.
Hope that helps!
Hi, can I use the AC adaptor from my companion lith 70 power station to charge this? I’m pretty sure it has a different input fitting, if so, can I just find that single cable fitting instead of buying the whole AC adaptor? Thank you
G'day Leah,
No you can't. The AquaHeat and Rover are completely different products and require different power inputs.
Whilst you may be plugging them both into 240V power, the black transformer box produces different Amps and Voltages specific to the accessory you are charging.
You will need to purchase the correct charger for the AquaHeat.
Is it possible to use a water pump which is already fitted on my vehicle?
G'day Chris,
No, the AquaHeat Lithium Gas Shower can only be used with the supplied water pump.
Will the pump head fit into a 10L SeatoSummit Water Cell?
G'day John,
I've tried this out for you in-store, and unfortunately no, the Watercell mouth is just a tab too narrow!
No way around it I'm afraid.
I'm wondering, as a gas saving measure, is it possible to just fill the shower tank with preheated water, like from a solar water bag?
G'day Neptune,
Yes, you could use pre-warmed water from a solar shower to help reduce gas usage in the unit.
Will the unit still function as a pressurized cold water shower without a gas bottle?
G'day Ronny,
Yes, you can. We run these without gas as demo models in-store.
Hope that helps!
are these hoses interchangable with some other shower hoses? like the smartek premium hoses/head or joolca head? (joolca is like a regular garden hose
G'day Hamish,
No, the AquaHeat Shower Head hose isn't interchangeable with the Smartek style hoses sorry.
On average, ballpark figure on how long one of the propane cartridges would last ?
G'day David,
It's not really possible to say, unfortunately, as the fuel consumption rate on the AquaHeat is given in Mj/h and not grams of gas.
I've done some googling on conversation rates, etc and I've come up with just over 1 hour (1hr15mins) of continuous run time per propane canister, which will give you 25 x 3 min showers.
I'm not an expert on gas conversions, so don't hang your hat on it, but I think it gives you a rough ballpark as requested.
How big is the pump. Will it fit in jerrycans or containers
G'day Darren,
The Pump Housing has a diameter of about 6cm, unfortunately it is a little too large to fit in Jerry Cans. The best bet will be to draw from a bucket or open-topped container.
Can this unit pull water from a creek and how much run time from lithium battery. Is it a better option than the smarter units
G'day Dean,
The Aquaheat Lithium isn't able to pull water from a creek, they have a fairly small pump, with a 1.5m hose between the pump and unit. Depending on the usage you should expect about 2 hours of run time from the battery when fully charged. I'm assuming you're asking about the Smartek units? If so, then these are a slightly different style, and designed just for clean water sources in containers - e.g. buckets. The Smarttek units can draw water from creeks, and can be used with the inline filter to stop gunk getting into the unit.
I have a camper trailer with 140L water tank. It already has a pump. Or would have have to bypass the pump?
G'day Trent,
The AquaHeat Lithium isn't designed to be run from a pump other than the supplied pump which operates at 2L/min.
Hi is there an option to be able to hang the shower rose from a shower tent ect?
G'day Tyson,
Yes, you can hang the shower rose inside your shower tent. Most shower tents will have a hook or similar stitched into the roof that will hook around the shower rose handle.
Is the pump available as a seperate unit, is it lithium or does it need a power source to operate? Thanks Drew
G'day Drew,
The pump is a separate unit that attaches to the main unit. It should be available as a spare part, but it's something we'd need to special order. The pump has a power connection to the unit and uses the internal Lithium battery to power it.
Can you connect to the tap instead of using the pump
G'day Michelle,
Unfortunately you're not able to connect this unit to mains water, it has been designed to be used only with the pump.
After AC adaptor for this unit
G'day Dean,
We're not yet stocking the AC Adaptor for this unit, however, Companion has advised they can be special ordered. If you're after one please send through and email to our special orders team, service@snowys.com.au - Attention: special orders and they can get back to you with a price and availability.
Can you connect a normal 9kg gas bottle to it.
G'day Michelle,
Yes you can connect the AquaHeat show to a 9kg POL gas bottle if you'd prefer to use a larger cylinder. You'll just need to purchase the POL to BOM High Pressure Gas Hose for this combination to work.
