Disposal of waste 1 answer
Can you dispose of the waste into a long drop toilet or bury it if you are using the aqua chem green?
Louise - Sandy Bay, TAS(4 years ago)
G'day Louise,
The general rule of thumb with portable toilets is that they need to be emptied into an approved dump point, generally, they can be found at caravan parks and some roadside RV/caravan parking areas. We'd advise against attempting to bury the contents. Disposal in a drop toilet might be possible if the owner/operator of the toilet approves this, it will likely depend on the type of toilet they use, and what they use to breakdown the waste.

Dosage1 answer
First time using a Porta Potti so a couple of questions. On the bottle the dosage instructions are for a 20 litre tank. We bought the Porta Potti 345 with a 12 litre waste holding tank. Does that mean we only need to use approx half the dose of green stuff and half the amount of water it says on the bottle? Also it says a dose lasts up to 4 days. If we are camping for 9 days (using the toilet sparingly) and won’t be able to empty the toilet during this time does that matter? Is it a problem if you don’t empty and refresh the green chemical every 4 days? Also are the pink and green chemicals fine to be poured down a normal toilet when back home? Thankyou

G'day Erin,
The instructions indicate that you use 150ml per 20L tank, so yes you'll need to use just a little over half of that. The 4 days estimate is with average use, so 9 days might be pushing it, but it could be ok, depending on how much it gets used. Ideally, you'll need to empty it directly into a toilet dump point at a caravan park or RV stop, however, you could use the home toilet, you might just have to do it in a few batches.
