High stool + relatively light, but how does it go when used on a beach ie. stability?

This stool will likely sink into soft sand, but will still offer you some stability due to the tripod design. However, it's not designed for optimal use on soft sand or soil so that's something to keep in mind.

We wanted to purchase as a gift and get the back rest screen printed. Can the back rest be taken off and put back on again?

G'day Leanne,
I've just had a look for you and the backrest is attached with a small screw, however, I would say a printer might not be able to print on it as there is a small plastic bracket that holds the back of the chair that might cause some problems for the printers.
