Split to mppt and direct?1 answer
I have a Rover 40ah powerstation which has an inbuilt mppt. I have a 200w solar panel to charge this, and it seems that the maximum the Rover can use is 80w (reading fom the LED panel on the Rover) If i get one of these Anderson 1 to 2 plugs, could i connect it to the solar panel output and then split so I can charge the Rover directly, and with the second output hook in my mppt and then charge or run, using the extra wattage, other items - so charge a seperate 12v battery, run fans etc. Cheers rick

G'day Rick,
Long story short, no. There's a few different variables & things that could go wrong, eg. once you start limiting current, voltage increases which could end up fying your battery. Whilst there would be some tolerance, there's no way of saying for sure that you'd be ok, or even if it would work at all.

solar charge two batteries?1 answer
If the single end is connected to unregulated solar panels can the two split ends charge two separate batteries with their own chargers? Or is the split designed only to separate a battery's output?

G'day Enzo,
It is possible for this, you would need to make sure everything is 12V, and it would be worth connecting a solar charge controller in the setup. The splitter cable is 50amps but because it is split, each cable can only handle 20amps so just make sure it won't overload this.

Input output 1 answer
Can I use the split ends as an input and output simultaneously? Eg the single end plugged to my battery with one of the split ends to a solar panel and the other to my fridge & lights?
John - Noble Park, VIC(1 year ago)
G'day John,
No, you would only be able to use the single-end input into your battery and the 2 split ends as an output. You wouldn't be able to use the split ends as an input and output simultaneously.
