Bacon and eggs? Pancakes? A stir fry? These delicious dishes are all possible even on a lightweight escapade with the Alpha Pan from Sea to Summit.
This pan is made from a hard anodised alloy which is strong and durable while also being very light. The flip style handle can be locked in place when in use, and then folded away when you’re not using it making it a compact solution for travel and storage. Excellent heat distribution and abrasion resistance
Take your hiking meals to the next level, with the versatile and lightweight Alpha Pan from Sea to Summit.
I'm looking for a frying pan that will nest with the S2S Sigma set. Will the Alpha pan work, or is there another you can recommend? Thanks!
G'day Kate,
The Sigma Pot Set will sit inside the Alpha Frying pan with a little extra room. The Sigma Pots don't currently have a matching frypan, but the Alpha Pots are the matching set, the 3.7L Alpha Pot will nestle neatly in the pan.
Can you use this frypan on induction stove tops?
G'day Sharon,
No, they won't. Induction cooktops require magnetic cookwear - aluminium isn't, but something like steel and cast iron should do the trick.
Can you cook on a fire with this pan cheers or is it only jet boil and little stoves
G'day Jim,
Whilst we are aware that some people cook with the Alpha pan over the fire, Sea to Summit recommends using these with hiking-style stoves, as this is what they are primarily designed for.
I'm sure with some care and common sense, you could find these to be quite versatile.
Hi, I'm wondering if the 8" pan will fit the 1.4L xpot kit in it snugly to pack up together
G'day Zane,
Great idea! We've tested this out instore and it fits like a glove.
Hi, would any of the alpha pot lids fit on either of the pans? I don’t particularly need the pots, but I would love to find a decent quality non stick pan that has a lid, and that can be used with a standard hiking stove- any other recs beyond the alpha pan?
G'day Zoe,
We're currently waiting on our next shipment of the Alpha range, so at this stage don't have anything in stock to check for you.
It's a great question you've asked because I'm not aware of any other hiking frypans that come with a lid.
I have a feeling that the 3.8L Alpha Pot lid may fit on the 8" Alpha pan, but I cant say for sure just yet.
I'm sorry to not have an answer for you but will chase this up as soon as I can.
G'day again Zoe,
I've been able to finally test this out for you and can confirm the 3.7L Alpha pot lid fits on the 8" Alpha Pan.
Hope that helps!
I would like to use the frypan on a Gasmate single burner stove that uses the butane cartridges. Also, do the handles of the pan and pot get hot while it’s cooking on the stove? Cheers
G'day Russell,
Ideally, these Alpha Pans are suited to use on hike style stoves, that throw a slightly smaller flame than the single butane cartridge-style stoves. If you did choose to use of these, we'd recommend keeping the flame on low so that it doesn't extend up the sides of the pot. The handle will stay cool while cooking as long as the flame doesn't exceed the base of the pan.
Can you cook on a jet boil stove with this pan? I have a jet boil and use it for water but other pots have burned using it
G'day John,
It will depend on the Jetboil Stove you've got, but generally, the Alpha Pans need to be used on a medium/low heat so that you don't burn things.
Will the 8" alpha pan nest the 2.8l x pot inside?
G'day Scott,
Unfortunately we don't have any stock available to physically check this for you, however, based on dimensions the 2.8L X Pot is a little larger than the 8" alpha pan so we don't think this will fit sorry.
Hi, could I use this on a Biolite2? If not, can you suggest an alternative? Cheers.
G'day AMK,
The most suitable option to pair with the Biolite CampStove is the Biolite Portable Grill, however, you can use an Alpha Pan on the unit, you'll just need to be careful to keep your flame fairly low, so that you don't get flame diversion toward the fan/battery unit.
Can this be used on a gas cooker (camper trailer) ?
G'day Michelle,
Yes, the Alpha Pans can be used on a gas cooker in a camper trailer. They're designed primarily for hike style stoves, so if you're using on a camper trailer cooker we'd suggest going for the larger size, and making sure the flame diameter doesn't exceed the edges of the pan.
Is this pan suitable to use on a mini butane stove or a small campfire?
G'day Jason,
The Alpha Pans are designed to be used on small lightweight hike style butane stoves but not on campfires. So yes to the stove, but no to the campfire.
Hi does the 8” alpha frypan nest inside the 10” alpha frypan ?
G'day Ned,
I've just double checked and yes the 8" Alpha pan will nest in the 10" Alpha pan.
Howdy, do any of these fry pans nest with the Alpha 4.4 cookset?
G'day Cameron,
