How many litres is the main compartment and how many litres is the sleeping bag compartment 1 answer
See above
Louise - Launceston (4 years ago)
G'day Louise,
The entire internal compartment (with internal divider open) is 45L with a 10L additional section which sits under the top of the hood. Deuter doesn't give a specification of the size of the lower compartment, but visually it appears to be around 15-20L.

I’m looking for a pack liner for the bottom (sleeping bag) compartment, plus one for the main compartment. What do you recommend? I will be getting a pack cover too, but have some river crossings 1 answer

Lou - Launceston (4 years ago)
G'day Lou,
Generally the best option will be to use a pack liner that will line the entirety of the pack, or grab a compression dry sack for your sleeping bag, and a pack liner for the body of the pack. The smallest pack liner in the Sea to Summit range is a 50L, which will do the main body of the 45 10 without the 10L extension under the hood. I'd recommend this size in conjunction with the dry sack for your sleeping bag, then you'll keep nice and dry for river crossings.

Please would you explain the "+10"?1 answer
This pack is described as 45 10l, what does that mean?
Lynne - West Hobart(5 years ago)
G'day Lynne,
The main body of the pack is 45L, and the 10L is the extra expandable space in the hood of the pack.

Rain Cover size1 answer
I need to buy a rain cover for this backpack. Can you tell me if you have one that is the right dimensions?
Jane - Ipswich(7 years ago)
G'day Jane,
You can grab a Sea to Summit Medium Ultra-Sil Pack Cover to suit your Deuter Aircontact Lite 45 10 SL Backpack. We've also just released a Deuter Pack Cover but they're not online at the moment. If you wanted to grab one of those, feel free to give us a buzz on 1300 914 007 and our customer service team can help you order one over the phone. If you grabbed one of those, you'd need the large size.

Can it be put in the washing machine? 1 answer
I've been having a great time using this pack. However, with all the sweaty hiking I'm wondering whether it's washable. Mainly the straps and padding that touches my back I'd like to clean.
Cathy - newcastle(7 years ago)
G'day Cathy,
We wouldn't recommend you put your Deuter Aircontact Lite 45 10 SL Backpack in the washing machine, no. We'd suggest you use warm soapy water and a soft sponge to gently rub the trouble spots on your backpack. If you'd like, you can then use a spot of Febreze or similar to help with any bugs or odour on the sweaty spots.
