Righto, let’s cut through the tech-talk and tell it straight up. If you’re in a situation that requires you to activate an emergency device, it’s a pretty safe bet to say things are kind of dire and stressful! GME keeps it simple yet effective with their MT410G PLB.
Activation is a 2-step process - first, you release the aerial by pushing the black arm inwards and upwards. That action will uncoil the top-mounted Quad helix antenna, and then you swing the antenna fully upwards 180° in a clockwise direction which will break the safety seal and click the arm into place. That’s it, you’re done, and the alert is in action! Your device has been pre-programmed with a unique code which is transmitted to a global search and rescue service via the COSPAS-SARSAT system. That code is unique to you, and when you register your PLB, all the necessary info required for an effective emergency response is recorded so that if a distress signal is received, rescuers will be directed to better than 100 metres of your location. The MT410G is also equipped with a 50 channel 406MHz GPS receiver which allows the single signal to use multiple tracking loop parameters allowing speedier access to the satellite and reducing power consumption.
Aussie made with a compact and lightweight design, the MT410G PLB from GME also features a high-intensity flashing LED strobe light, a Non-Hazmat battery pack with a 7-year lifespan and will float if you happen to find yourself in water.
