I'm thinking about getting this and storing it on my steel mesh roof platform to and from the camp site. How would the shelf react if it was raining during getting to the camp site and back?
G'day Troy,
The shelves in the Deluxe Double are laminated MDF with a plastic edging, so they are somewhat susceptible to water damage if water gets in between the edging and permeates the MDF. I'd recommend storing it in your vehicle if it is going to be wet while travelling.
Tossing up between this and the camp deluxe kitchen.
There is a chance that the top could get heat damaged, Crystal, the material isn't designed with the use of a stove on top in mind. That's not to say it will get damaged but there is a chance it will.
The Deluxe Kitchen, however, has an aluminium top which will withstand heat better.
I'm looking to establish the dimensions so that I can plan ahead in purchasing stackable plastic tubs that can be easily loaded up and used like drawers
G'day Patrick,
Sorry, it's taken a few days to get back to you, we had to get one of the team in our Qld store to set it up and measure for us!
We have a Weber Baby Q that we love to take camping - but the Weber branded stand has no storage :( We've looked at heaps of camping kitchens and this is the only one we've found with the right depth dimensions for a Baby Q to fit on - but do you think its sturdy enough? Or will it topple over whenever we open the BBQ lid??
G'day Laura,
The Oztrail 3 Shelf Deluxe Double Cupboard is designed to be used more as storage than as a workbench. It can be a little wobbly when not on solid ground. Whilst I'm confident that you won't have any issues with it tipping over, I wouldn't be 100% certain. You might be better investing in a small table for your Weber Baby Q.
They look almost identical and very similar in sale price (though not RRP) are they similar in comparison construction and quality?
G'day Katie,Â
While the Oztrail 3 Shelf Deluxe Double Cupboard and the Zempire iCupboard do look similar - there are a few key differences.Â
I would say that the Zempire iCupboard is going to be a more hardwearing product as it’s made from 600D material vs 300D for the Oztrail. It’s also got higher rated shelves at 20kg compared to the Oztrail at 8kg, and has a steel frame which is sturdier than aluminium which is what the Oztrail is made of.Â
Both are good units, but the Zempire is definitely going to be the stronger option if I had to pick between the two.Â
