Can this unit be charged through either of the USB-A ports instead of the USB-C port?
G'day Donald,
No it cant, the USB C is the only Input port on this device.
I have an older Sherpa 50 power bank with light a life 350 lights and want to buy a new power bank so we can run these in the gazebo also. The new goal zero power banks do not have a 12 volt port. Is it possible to use an adapter into the new 100pd power bank to use our 6 existing light a life 350s? We have other goal zero solar panels and lights and want to make sure everything works together.
G'day Simon,
This is a tricky one, as we're not 100% sure which generation of lights you have, and what the power port looks like. The best bet would be to flick through some photos of the power port to us via return email and we can follow up with Goal Zero. Or Goal Zero Australia might be able to talk it over with you on the phone.
How many times should this charge a smart phone? First use and I was lucky to get 2 full charges out of it. Would expect a lot more considering the price point.
G'day Rhys,
The 100PD has a 25600mAh battery which is a fairly large battery for a portable power pack. It will depend on the size of the battery in your phone, but most current phones have a battery around the 3500 - 4000mAh battery in them.
Would the nomad 7 Solar be sufficient to charge this?
G'day Rhys,
The Nomad 7 won't really capture enough energy to charge to 100PD, we'd suggest the Nomad 14 Plus or 28 Plus to complete a full charge of the 100PD.
May I ask you why in the introduction it says the capacity is 25,600mAh, but in the description details is says the capacity is 6,400mAh? I note there is a voltage difference, so does that mean the voltage change will quarter its capacity? Are charging devices from USB ports count as 3V and in what scenario does it count as 12 or 14V? Connected by a cigarette plug from the device to this powerbank, like a fridge? But I don't see my dometic has a USB output... Sorry for my many stupid questions.
Not a silly question, Michael, it was a silly error on our behalf. The battery details were from a different Goal Zero product, I've updated the spec with the current information now.
Just to reiterate, it's not a 12V power supply, it is a 3.7V power supply with 25600mAh capacity, so you can't run a fridge from this.
Apologies for the confusion.
Macbooks ave 75W power bricks - can these units provide enough power to run the laptop and/or charge its internal battery overnight?
G'day David,
The USB-C ports on the 100PD Powerbank are 60W each so unfortunately, I don't think this will suit your needs. Goal Zero have written a blog about charging options here that may help to explain it too.
I am interested in then Boulder 100 Briefcase Panels and I am trying to maximise storage capacity to use with all of our USB devices
G'day Shaun,
The Boulder 100 panels will generate a little too much power to charge the 100PD Powerbank. Goal Zero recommend using the Nomad 28 Panels to charge this Powerbank. If you're wanting to store more power than the 100PD can store then a Yeti might suit you better, we are expecting more stock to become available in the coming months, so as soon as they are available in Australia we'll get them up online.
Would this be suitable for use with the OZtrail 5W Comet USB Campsite Light. If so, approx for how many hours?
G'day Nicole,
The 5W Comet light should work fine with the 100PD Powerbank. The Comet light will draw approximately 1A per hour, so the 6400mAh battery should last approximately 6 hours.
Can the battery be replaced?
G'day Kay,
The battery inside the 100PD Powerbank isn't designed to be replaced.
