I like to sleep in and get woken buy the sun How dark is it inside this tent ? Is it dark like a canvas swag ?
G'day Luke,
The Tourer 9 Tent has fairly thick canvas, so it will be darker than being in a polyester tent, and similar to a canvas swag - depending on the swag!
Hi - can you please tell me what kind of pegs ship with this tent - are they suitable for hard, dry ground?
G'day Andrwe,
The Tourer 9 includes standard OZtrail pegs which may not be suitable for really tough ground. It might be worthwhile considering a few of Supa Peg's Galvanised Steel Pegs for your kits or if your ground is particularly brutal there's the Hex Pegs. Cheers
Is there a fly for severe weather
G'day Chris,
The Tourer 9 doesn't have a specific fly available. These tents are generally pretty good in most weather conditions so we'd suggest packing up if the weather is really severe.
G'day Snowys Are the seals seamed on this tent? Thank you.
G'day Matt,
The OZtrail Tourer 9 Tent has been designed with an inverted seam system which makes any rain water run off rather than collect and pond at the seams.
My Oztrail Tourer tent has a habit of sagging when pitched in full sun. Everything is pitched tautly i.e. floor, guy ropes and pole(s), but leave it a few hours and the sides sag. Not easy to fix. Any ideas?
G'day Pete,
I'm not sure off the top of my head sorry mate, but maybe send us some photos of the problem to service@snowys.com.au and we'll get some of the staff to take a look and see what suggestions we can all offer you.
I recently borrowed a friend's tourer 9 which was possibly 6 to 7 years old and it fit perfectly into the boot on my car. I am wondering if the specs of the tourer 9 have stayed the same or changed over the years. I would love to buy this tent but am worried it won't fit into my boot with the square frame left in. Thanks
G'day Alex,
The OZtrail Tourer 9 Tent has changed very little over the years and packs down to approximately 80 x 80 x 10 cm.
What size mesh flooring will be required for this tent, including the area under the awning? Will one of the Oztrail or Oztent sizes work?
G'day Nicola,
Having looked at the dimensions of the Oztrail Tourer 9 Tent, I reckon a good safe option for a mesh floor would be the 10 x 16 ft Oztrail Ultramesh Tarp.
thanks
G'day Brett,
You can find the Side Pole Kit for your Oztrail Tourer 9 Tent here.
Hi my question is quite specific and probably not of a lot of interest to the general camping community. I'm looking for some extra accomodation outside of our camper trailer for my daughter who sometimes travels with us. she uses a wheelchair. I'm after a tent that she can roll into reasonably easily, and where i can set up a Goanna stretcher. How wise is the flat part of the sill on the door of this tent and will it press flat to allow her to roll over it. Other than that, do you have alternate tent suggestions.
your description says 340gsm but the Oztrail website says 230 gsm
Howdy Dan,
I will need to confirm this with the manufacturer on Monday, as that is quite a difference! Thank you very much for bringing that to our attention and we will be back in touch very shortly with an answer for you.
Hi Dan,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, according to Oztrail the Tourer 9 is made from 230 gsm Ripstop Canvas so I will make sure to have that update online to avoid further confusion.Â
Hi, the picture shown on your web site, the windows of the OZtrail Tourer 9 tent are a one whole mesh window, but the model shown on youtube has a window split into two pieces of mesh vertically. Could you please advise which type of windows it is for the one you are selling please, before I can place an order? Thanks .
Hi Wey. Great question,
Yes our video is a little out of date there. The tent no longer has that strip down the centre of the mesh window, now just featuring a full mesh window. I will see if we can get an updated video of this tent and have that posted there instead. Thanks heaps for letting us know! Cheers!
Can the centre pole of the tent be raised easily by a 'not so young' femaile ?
Howdy Jill,
The Tourer 9 is an easy to erect tent that should go up fairly quickly. The centre pole allows you to push up the middle of the tent quickly and should be easy enough for people of any age group. The estimated weight of the centre would be around 10kgs, so not too heavy really. As
As always though, it is alway handy to have that second person giving you a hand but this tent can be put up by one person with relative ease. Just make sure that the tent is fully pegged out around the edge first, and the windows open to allow for air to enter freely as you push that middle section up. Happy Camping!
G’day Tony, Oztrail manufacture some of their products in Bangladesh, and the rest in China depending on what it is. I’ve just had a look at the box for you, and the Tourer 9 tent is made in China.
Does the carry bag have a zip or straps or some other way to close it once the tent is folded up in it?
Can you tell me how much the side bar is please I only have the centre pole
What is the "rollup weather flap" on windows? Does that mean it is clear plastic to let in natural light, but not rain? Are the windows gussetted for ventilation during bad weather?
With the side windows in the rain you can zip them down 50% and then peg out the bottom of the flag therefore giving some ventilation and visibility. For ventilation overnight I use the door instead as the intenal skin can be opened from the top for as much of an opening as you want and if you peg out the external flap it is covered from rain. I have had a tourer for 6 or 7 years, great tent, robust and even more roomy when you use the side pole kit. Nice and dark in the morning as the canxas is thick and blocks the light and in the summer the full length windows and door mean 4 way ventilation to the floor
Thanks for the insight JF!
Glad to hear you're still enjoying your Tourer after all these years :)Â
Thanks for your comprehensive and helpful answer to my previous question but if I do purchase a tourer 9, does it come with a sturdy bag to fit the 800x800x10 pack up size, with the roof square poles in place?
Notice packed size stated as 80x80x10, which is obviously with the square roof frame still in place. Does purchase include a solid carry bag for those dimensions? Hope so, because once the roof frame has been put in place would not want to remove each day & negate quickest erection. I'm wanting quick&easy tent for my wife & I, principally for traveling North WA, and am torn between Tourer 9 or Oztent JV Signature Tent (we have self inflating mats each). Can you help my dilemma?
Thanks for the tip JF, sounds like you and the Tourer 9 have been on plenty of adventures together!Â
