Hey guys, loved the podcast! Jogged my memory of the early 70’s where our parents dabbled in a bit of camping. I remember them having an “Andre Jamet” Tent with an add on kitchen extension. Dad struggled to put it on the roof of the EJ Holden, pack up all the other gear including the Styrofoam Esky and off the 4 of us would go. Caravan parks of course. Fond memories of the stress of our parents erecting that huge tent! Mum getting mad and Dad laughing which only made it worse. Tents sure have changed, been through a few over the years and ended up with my favourite-The RV4. Love it.
Those old canvas fabric/steel frame tents were rock solid and quite liveable, but a headache to transport and a nightmare to erect. I remember my family having a blue version of sorts, can’t remember the brand. Trying to work out which pole section went where was always a bit of “fun”. ~ Ben
